Let me be the first to start it since I was the biggest one and believed in Shane the most. I really thought he would dominate, but I guess Coto is the goods afterall. I'll have to wait til next week to really give my breakdown but all in all I admit I was wrong. I EAT MY CROW! If this isn't bad enough I also lost a sig beat I almost pulled out of and I owe somebody at work a case of beer.
I underestimated Cotto tonight,he's alot better than I thought he was great fight from both fighters.
Fight was way too close for anyone to eat crow. Unless you came in with an absurd prediction, like.... Floyd claiming easy fight for Shane who would score an early knockout. For what it's worth, I was dead wrong in believing Cotto would break down Shane early and eventually stop him late. I gave Shane almost no chance to win, be competitive but no chance of winning, yet I had it 1 pt shy of a draw.
Yeah, that was me. I did that. I claimed an easy fight and to be honest I still can't believe it didn't happen that way. I eat crow. I take seconds. Hell give me the crow buffet.
It was a great fight by both guys....and they both showed different facets and made adjustments. No shame and there is no loser. I was wondering, however, just how little of Cotto Kellerman & co. have seen if they though that him moving and countering off the ropes was NEW.
If anyone should eat crow, it should be Sly. Once again, as ALWAYS, he underestimated Shane. The same Shane Mosley who in Sly's mind woulda lost to Mamadou Thiam.::
Honestly i didn't take your prediction seriously. Hes your hero so your gonna be biased. If Roy Jones fought Wlad tomorow i would pick him, even though i know he has no shot but to run around the ring and beg the judges for a decision.
EXACTLY. He use to do that in his first 20 fights. Almost as if he was practicing just for a moment like this. Cotto use to always fight backwards. Also, when was Cotto down 5 times as manny said?
Cotto has underated skills. Alot of people think he is a limited 1 dimesional brawler. Truth is, he has good skills. An effective jab, an effective right hand, a huge left hook up and down, counterpunching ability and has underated defence. Add this to his determination and willingness to fight through adversity and he is damn hard to beat.
Thats the only one i remember and you are right it was a throwdown. And wasnt there a Knock Down in the First Barrera Morales fight?
No, no. I deserve the abuse, I would have made this prediction if I liked Shane or not. I took alot of stock from the Callozo victory because he showed so much skills and reflexes, but it appears he didn't use none of that stuff tonight. Still I appreciate the mercy.
HBO crew have problems..just because Cotto was boxing using the ring..."Something is wrong with Cotto, Mosley mosta hurt him with something in the last 20-30 seconds, cause he is going backwards"..or some bullshit.....though a few seconds later Mosley did land something...
So true. He didnt look hurt, he looked like he was running. I kept calling him a bitch. But then he started to land against the ropes like he did in his earlier fights and i let it slide.
Fair enough lb4lb, I have to say though - WHY did you think Mosley would KO him easily? And not think Cotto was the goods already? I know you've been saying this for ages. I thought it was pretty obvious Cotto was for real by now. Did you not see him brutally beat down Judah in his last fight? More impressively than anyone else, including Mayweather. I've thought Cotto was the goods since his 6th or 7th pro fight.
Looking forward to being wrong in my next fight,.. ..............I'm picking FRAUD!! :crafty: HE HE HE HE HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR!!!
I think he was. After the loss he came in to the dressing room smiling. Everyone was asking him why he was so happy after the loss and he said something about saving a bunch of money on Geico.
Because, I thought Shane's style was just better than Cotto's. Technicallly they shouldn't have matched up to a close fight. Shane allowed a smaller guys jab to beat him, used no defense and came in with the same plan that got Oscar beat against him. It was obvious his plan was to take Cotto out early as he must have figured Cotto was chinny. Also I didn't take much stock in Cotto beating Judah, and don't think it was much more impressive than Floyd beating him. Judah gave up in the Cotto fight in what the 1st or 2nd rd. Even though Judah gave Floyd hell, Floyd actually had to really earn it, because Judah didn't give up with Floyd until halfway into the fight. I already felt Cotto was the goods, but just that his style would lead to a defeat against Mosley.
Everyone seems to see a close fight. :dunno: Not me! Cotto won handily. I gave Shane no more than 4 rounds. He had alot of INeffective agression.
Nah, bro, it's just that sometimes it's easy to confuse speed, movement and dazzling combos with skill. Shane has technical skill and is a formidable fighter, but at the end of the day he is OFFENSIVE minded, loves to trade, looks to land big shots, and has never had a stiff, hard jab. He also fights in bursts/spurts and likes to punch and clinch at times. Mosley was not looking to take Cotto out early. He was boxing the way he always does. And btw, he adjusted several times and went to the body just as well if not better than COtto, and actually dialed up a gear or two late. Shane fought as best he could....I just think you underrated Cotto. No shame at all.....we all get 'em wrong. Peace.
I'm here to eat my crow. Both cats fought like champions. In the words of Dennis Green "if you wonna crown their asses then crown their asses". Well I'm crowning Cotto. However I can see the fight being a draw and would love to see it again. Also could we possibly be in the mix for a DLH/Cotto fight on Cinco De Mayo? I'll Holla 5000
