Barker is one of those sportsman who lacked the genetics for their chosen sport. Im not saying he would have been a world beater but the injuries definitely hampered his career. This is not uncommon, Kieron Dyer an english football player springs to mind, exceptionally talented, unbelievably brittle.
He wasn't exceptionally talented. Even without the injuries a belt would have been a nice accomplishment for him. I'm impressed this made a thread, since we ignore most of boxing on this board. ::
