Tua weighed in at 234 !!!:eeeek: :eeeek: :eeeek: He stopped some bum in 2...To compare Povetkin stopped him in 4
I don't want to seem like a bandwagonner, but Tua, from his recent pictures, seems to take his career far more seriously than he has in a looong time. He has the looks he had when he was younger and tearing up the division.
Why anyone gives a shit about Tua is beyond me. :dunno: IMO Holyfield is more relevant. Tua is on some Butterbean shit, he's a sideshow.
With the sad state of the heavyweight division today, a motivated and in shape David Tua could easily become a belt holder and major player in the division. I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but it could and I wouldn't be shocked. TFK
Even though I've fell for this stuff from Tua before time and time again, as of this moment, I am now a believer. In fact, I'm starting the official 'David Tua, fool me once...... shame on..... shame on you. Fool me......you can't get fooled again, Bandwagon'! Who's ready to jump on board? TFK
dsimon writes: like your analysis of the situation TFK. Tua, or anyone with a few skills a little desire and maybe some luck could be a contender in this division. If he makes it past his first solid second teire guy I am down. All roads lead to Vlad and Tua is really nor built to beat Vlad in a boxing match so I see him as a good fight for Brock, Peter, Maskev, etc. Every now and then guys really mature and exemplify Shakespears omage to wisdom: "Youth is wasted on the young"... Maybe Tua will pull a big george on us.
I agree that Tua probably can't beat Klitchko, but even if he loses, what's to stop him from getting a title shot against the other, less talented belt holders? Join the bandwagon! TFK
he can still win a title because the division is so shite, he wont beat klitschko though, wlads a badman
Tua is sort of taking the Shannon Briggs approach to title contention...with the same promoter. And I think it's about the same way for Tua as it was for Briggs...perhaps with the right match-up he could beat a champion or borderline "elite" heavyweight, but that's about it. I think he's just too limited (especially at this stage) to go on any sort of run where he wins a series of important fights. There's a known gameplan for beating Tua and despite some people's opinions of the division, there's enough fighters at/near the top that have the ability to simply outbox him for twelve rounds to keep him from really becoming a factor for any long period of time. But it is great to see Tua getting into better shape and staying active.
I don't get the excitement. You're talking about one of the most boring HW's who was out there right before he went away and quite frankly I was happy that he did. All he did was waddle around the ring and throw single digit shots per rd. Has he at least changed that old habit? Oh I forgot, his fights don't last long enough to tell because of the opposition he's facing.
Tua seems like a good likable guy. I wish him luck. I like Wlad too if they fight i would cheer for tua only because Wlad already had his spotlight Tua deserves a little glory too :)
Ugh. I hate him and wish him the most biggest and embarrasingest failure possible. I'll never forgive him for some of the horrible performances he made me sit through.
dsimon writes: I like Samoans, good people and Tua exemplifies that quiet dignity so what the hell put me on the bandwagon.
Tua really ha dsimon writes: Don't be such a hater dude! Tua really has to have his shit together with his lack of reach to do his thing in the ring... not easy!
Tua is such a great fighter to hate. No real skills to speak of anymore. I mean the dude makes sluggers look great by comparison. All he does in wing haymakers. How can anyone like this guy? Here's Tua on Fightbeat RD 4 with the haymakers turned off...............:dunno:
dsimon writes: Tua was like Picasso.... he had a big blue period in his career::. A lot of it was probably psychological and Lewis destroyed him in that regard. Happened to a lot of fighters, Golata for example.
