Dawson - Pavlik at 170 in November?

Shaw thinks this fight might be next for Dawson.

This has blowout written all over it. I think Pavlik is an average super-middleweight/light heavy at best. Dawson is a B+/A- fighter in that weight range.

I'm not sure Pavlik's people would be stupid enough to take this fight.

 

well if this is the plan it explains the "injury" Pavlik endured, and the knee-jerk response to it of going through with the PPV, with Lopez as the headline.

this shyte goes on all of the time. a fighter has a fight scheduled, his manager/promoter finds him a better one if only he can get out of the one he's scheduled for, and suddenly he comes down with something.

 

Do you really think they could make more money fighting Dawson over Mora though?

I think Dawson still lacks star power.

He's NOT Effective Above 160...His Power ISN'T Quite the Same...He WON'T have a Size Advantage Over Dawson & he'll B CONSIDERABLY Slower...Pavlik Will B 1-2 Steps BEHIND Dawson All Fight & he'll Get SCHOOLED Again...

10-2, 9-3 Type of Fight @ BEST for Pavlik...There's even an Outside Chance that Dawson STOPS him Late...Obviously, REED & Others SHOULDN'T Complain if Pavlik Takes this Fight, but he REALLY Needs to Face Abraham & Worry about Middleweights...

Im still not sure of how good a MIDDLEWEIGHT Pavlik is (with the exception of his heavy hands, which are the truth) never mind a super middle/light heavy

he made Bernard look 30 years old the alst time he fought outside 160

I dont think Dawson is anything remarkable, but he should easily handle Pavlik

 

I´m sure he cancelled the Mora fight out of fear he might lose. The Dawson fight is still five months away. Mora couldn´t jeopardize that fight if he used a sledgehammer instead of his fists.

 

I give pavlik a chance. Look what Glen Johnson was able to do against Dawson, he's nothing more than a tough and very active guy. He's not a super technically gifted fighter, he just puts the heat on. It just may be that Dawson doesn't deal well with guys who are aggressive. You don't find that out fighting Tarver, that's for sure.

 

I highly doubt this fight happens, and if it does than Pavlik and his ppl are some goddamn idiots! Chad is way too big, and fast for Pavlik. Plus Kelly has unfinished business at 160 anyway..... Abraham.

As for Chad.... he should really rematch Johnson. If not that, then a fight with him and Froch might make sense.

But Pavlik-Dawson makes no sense, unless Kelly's ppl wanna see him get his ass kicked again.

Adamek isn't all that dissimilar to Pavlik. Kelly more left handed and fluid, but not as strong.

Probably a similar result.

 

I think Adamek is a better fighter than Pavlik.

It would be a smart move for Dawson, so i can see why Shaw would want it....but Pavlik really needs to fight at a weight where he can best utilise his size and strength. Pavlik has better options at 160, and 168.

 

I'm ok with this fight, as long as Pavlik fights Abraham first.

It's safe to say Pavlik is a bit overrated. His wins over Miranda (chinny bum), and Jerbum Taylor (no stamina bum) have added more to his legacy than they should have.

 

I agree! There needs to be rules put forth about this ducking the #1 contender cycle. Here you have two fighters calling them self the best in the divisions; but dawson is bypassing two younger and undefeated fighters to make fights with older or lighter weight fights at a catch weight?!(Diaconu,Cloud) Pavlik still is the Champ @ middle weight even though he lost to B-Hop. That belt should have been vacated; also he has a fighter across the pond that's undefeated(Abraham) that he wants nothing to do with?! This never happen in the black & white era. Fighters would give up there belts to make super fights and win, lose, or draw they would come back to their home division to claim there title by fighting the new crownd champ. cloud needs to fight someone, preferably someone good with boxing ability, on television to up his profile. he's been on the shelf way too long waiting for a fight that isn't happening.

 

Actually they are both solid wins. Miranda was a big puncher and Taylor was highly skilled.

A 43 yr old Hopkins made Pavlik look like a sloth. Dawson will make Kelly look like he's fighting in slow motion. Chad will have little trouble finding Kelly like he did Tarver. Even an old ass Tarver defends better than Pavlik.
