wtf is it with tickets for Showtime fights going on sale 2-3 weeks before a fight? They did this for both Marquez-Vazquez fights - hell the first one didn't even have a venue until about 3-4 weeks prior to fight night. They did it for simms-alcine, for every ShoBox card this year so far...
Another question would be why Sac-Town? Diaconu fights outta Montreal and Dawson is from the East Coast. Yes let´s have the fight in California. :notallthere: :notallthere:
Well, the Maloofs are probably the reason. A fight card featuring Mexican and Filipino fighters probably shouldn't have been in Sacto either. I can't see there being much of a crowd for this event.
Actually Sacramento is the most multiculture city in the USA according to media, and Nor-Cal has a big Filipino and Mexican populations as well as a noted fight town; there's like five air force base in the Sacramento area. The World Cup got like 6,000 people there. Dawson/Diaconu should get 3,000.:dunno:
He'd whup Fraud's arse, easily, so does Shane, Dawson actually DOMINATES his opposition, Fraud struggles and runs like a bitch to survive, p4p my arse, he's just Roy Jones glorified substitute from 'whenever he begins to fade' as you put it.
Are we celebrating a potential crowd of 3,000? You're probably right on the number, but I'd far more concerned than pleased if I were King.
I think announced attandance for the World Cup was under 4,500. The Sacramento area is rich in boxing history, there's no denying that, and for the most part they're very supportive of local fighters (which currently includes yourself, Michael Simms, Eric Regan, Rogelio Castaneda, Vicente Escobedo, et al). And I am certainly looking forward to seeing Brandon Gonzalez and Stan Martyniouk develop...both look promising. Still, there's a lot of venues where the World Cup could have drawn a bigger crowd...and it that will likely be the case with Dawson-Diaconu.
True the World Cup could have been bigger in L.A. I haven't figured out what DK is doing. Maybe just getting Dawson more face time with the west coast are hopes the large Nor-Cal Russian base will suport the Romanian? Brandon Gonzalez and Stan Martyniouk are going to be huge!!!
Perez vs Agbeko should be very good undercard too. He gave WBA champ Sidorenko all he could handle in 2004 hopefully his form is still circa 2004 :dunno:
"According to King's publicist, Alan Hopper, Arco landed its second world title card of the year after an impromptu meeting between King and Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof last month in Las Vegas. Hopper said the two were at an awards banquet where King and new Kings coach Reggie Theus were among the honorees. King had been searching for a West Coast venue for the Dawson-Diaconu fight when Maloof told him the Sept. 29 date was available at Arco, the site of an Oscar De La Hoya-promoted title show Aug. 11."
