At 154. Stupid phone... Anyhow,I recently re watched De La Hoya vs Vargas. And while Oscar still had fast hands and good power in his left hook, he was definitely more flat-footed and hittable than ever. How does this one go?
Duran, wearing a big jet pack, lands in the ring and beats both of them up. :; Hard to say....I think Oscar was very good at what he did against a certain caliber of opponent. I don't think Davey is hard enough or smart enough to do much with Oscar. Old Oscar at 154 gave Floyd an awfully awfully good fight. I think Oscar beats him.
Tough call ... I could see Oscar having a big lead but Moore piling on late... Close decision win for Hoya I'd say
That's true. I do reckon Oscar wins. However, I could think of a number of 154 pounders that would beat Floyd at that weight. Mayweather is phenomenal of course but he wasn't great at that weight.
Of course, but Oscar was really a 147lbr himself, and he was old by the time he faced Floyd, sort of a part-time boxer. Davey was kind of odd....I think he Duran fight was way way too early for him. There was no need for that fight so early, I guess they felt Duran was old. Oscar with that right-hand that he was finding more and more under FMW Sr looked a more rounded fighter. Truth be told............Oscar, to use an old Hopkins expression, never really was comfortable with good slick black fighters.
