Dan Rafael reports it's already a done deal for September 27th, provided he beats Lockett. -"Arum, in Atlantic City promoting Saturday night's Miguel Cotto-Alfonso Gomez card, said he met with Rubio's representatives here on Friday and made a deal." -"Arum added that he would like to bring Germany's Arthur Abraham to the United States to defend his version of the title on the undercard to set the stage for a Pavlik-Abraham showdown in late 2008 or early 2009." He wants to put it in Ohio, possibly at Cleveland Browns Stadium Quicken Loans Arena.
jaja! turned down a carreer payday against Winky to schedule Locket followed by Rubio  Talk about wasting Pavlik's year
He doesn't need them though. Pavlik is the champ! He's a P4P fighter and a superstar in the making! They all need to come to him! He needs a break. Taken too many tough fights already! AbraBUM can come over here and get in line! Pavlik is the man! - 99% of USA fans.
It's Arab-ham guys, not Abrabum. Anyway, I said to Tam before - 1 soft touch is OK, forgivable. When you have more than one in a row, that's when it starts to take the piss and make a mockery of being a world champion. This is gay, he should fight Arab ham straight after lockett.
Amazing he has the audacity to complain about Floyd not wanting to fight anybody. He is more then happy to keep Pavlik away from a serious challenge like Winky.
arum despises winky. he said the same shit when winky called out oscar several years ago. wise move considering winky's impossible to look good against even if you win.
Doubt it would have been a career high payday. Winky was just calling Pavlik out, who is he to make an offer? I never heard any offers, it would have had to come from Arum and he didn't make one. I also doubt he would have made more versus Winky than he did in the second Taylor fight. Since when is Winky a draw?
Winky's turned down more big fights than most fighters get a sniff at. Regardless, I'd love to see Pavlik-Wright, but as Joony said, Arum hates him...which is convenient for Pavlik.:: Wright needs to make himself relevent though, he can't just sit on the sidelines. That's what Junior Witter get criticized for a lot around here, yet Witter actually tries to do something about it...Wright's just talking, and that's all he's been doing for a while.
Do people really think Winky would beat Pavlik? I'm as big a Winky fan as there is and I give him almost no chance against a guy who punches like Pavlik AND can keep pace with Winky and will not go backwards one bit. I just see no way Winky. He won't outwork Pavlik and he sure as hell isn't hurting him.
I don't know that I'd pick Wright, but he's one of only about two good "contenders" at the moment in what is a pretty shallow division.
I'd almost rather Pavlik move up to 168 and get in the mix there at this point. Anything but sit at 160 fighting no hopers works for me.
To become a star you gotta beat a star. Knocking Winky into retirement will be much more meaningful then beating Rubio and Lockett.
