REED's Fairly Excited about this 1, Mainly Because it's FREE... REED's Going w/Dodson... It'd have Been Cool if This were Staged on January 21st (MLK Day), Rather Than the 26th... REED:kidcool:
Love this card. The Cerrone-Pettis bout has potential FOTY written all over it. Not to mention I am actually looking forward to Clay Guida droping down to 145 and taking on Hatsu Hioki.
Cerrone versus Pettis should have been the main event , it would have been a 5 round war but no instead we get this garbage fight between two Gary Colemans. I love the card but the main event I probably won't even watch. It will be a boring ass 5 rounds of running around and pecking away. Worst main event EVER. Oh did I mention how fucking annoying Dodson is ? No ? Well here it is he is the most annoying little shit in mma. There. Demetrious Johnson I actually have met and seems like a nice guy. It was the day before the Jon JOnes vs Belfort card they were at the gym all of them and Johnson and Stann were outside signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. I get there and take a picture with Stann and right after I end up standing face to chest (he's tiny) with Johnson and he goes anyone else wants to take a picture (Again, seemed like a cool dude) and as he says that I gave him that Nah I'm good look and turned around. I kinda feel bad for doing that now! But ya anyway WORST MAIN EVENT EVER.
johnson is fast and explosive with takedowns but i'm not sure if it's the weight class or what, he is boring to watch.
Dodson ISN'T Boring... What the Little Guys LACK in Sheer Power, they MORE than Make Up For in SPEED & TECHNIQUE... Johnson-Dodson will Be an Entertaining Fight... REED:hammert:
That whole weight class is boring. They're too small and the octagon is too big. It looks like two little kids playing in a GIANT ASS sandbox . I have no interest in fights where if a rule is broken the referee could literally at any time pick up any of the fighters involved , put them over their knee and spank them.
With all of the promotion this event is getting with the commercials during the NFL Playoffs, I think the UFC really dropped the ball by not putting on a stronger card. The main event, while a title fight, offers zero name value, and in the co-main, Rampage hasn't put up more than a half assed effort in any of his recent fights dating back a few years. Like I said, they really dropped the ball with this one. TFK
We'll See... Clearly, UFC is Targeting a "Different" Demographic Here...ATHLETICALLY, Dodson's Entertaining as Hell AND he Possesses Fight Ending Power...If Dodson WINS, it'll Likely Be in the Type of Fashion that CREATES a New Fanbase for Him, the Division & the Sport... As for Rampage, yeah, he's a 1-Trick Pony These Days, but in This Case, he's Been MATCHED w/a Guy that has a Similar M.O....It's VERY Easy to Envision Rampage vs. Texiera Being an Entertaining SLUGFEST... REED:mj:
To be fair, Dodson is actually pretty good, especially for a tiny little 5'2 dwarf. He's much better than I thought he was at first, or perhaps, better than I wanted him to be :: But man, he reminds me of a hyperactive little girl, and the act seems kind of contrived. I think he probably beats Johnson though.
Again I'm clearly in the miniority but I'm looking forward to the junior light strawweight championship fight.
Yeah, Dodson's a JITTERY, Rapid Talking, ENERGETIC Little Motherfucker for Sure...& that HyenaISH Cackle is QUITE Irritating... REED:hammert:
jackson did ok considering he's well past his prime. i guess that was the last we see him in the ufc.
I dont know what these commentators are talking about. I have Dodson winning all but the 4th round. And he was winning the 4th until he got caught with the knees
They keep talking about the take downs by DJ, but ignores the 5 or 6 times dodson dropped DJ with punches.
Damn, we might just get a Pettis-Henderson rematch. Pettis made Cerrone look like a feeble kid. Jackson is shot as shit and still makes it a close fight with Glover... Not impressive for guy in the hunt to challenge Jon Jones. I had a 1 point win for Johnson.
I didn't score the midget fight. They should be happy that I even watched it. Having said that It could have been 3-0 nothing Dodson based on the knockdowns but without a doubt Johnson took the last 2 and you could argue one of them at least could have been a 10-8. A lot of knees landed. A LOT. So 47-47 could have been acceptable. But ya like I said I wasn't actually scoring it so to me 48-47 sounded like the right call. Glover didn't really impress much. Jackson was trying I'll give him that but he seemed gas pretty damn early. Glover should have stepped on the gas and finished it in the first round like he could have but didn't and it turned into a pretty sloppy brawl. Pettis look great. Even before the kicks to the liver landed he seemed to be outboxing Cowboy pretty easily. UFC must be thrilled because Cowboy vs Henderson III doesn't really sell that good I bet but Pettis vs Henderson 2 in the summer will be a blockbuster. Leading up to the fight we will see the showtime kick about 4 million times so get ready.
If Pettis can stay on his feet, he's probably the most enjoyable guy to watch fight. Hilarious that he did his showtime kick (knee this time) again. I was looking forward to Johnson vs Dodson and it didn't disappoint. Dodson must have been very outsized or underdeveloped to have 5 losses in 15 fights. He's a very good fighter.
I laugh at guys not liking 125 weight division but loving women fighting at 135. Dodson/Johnson was a great fight. Extremely entertaining. Much better than Glover/Rampage that's for damn sure. I'd love to see Dodson fight Uncle Creepy. What this division needs is some Thai fighters. UFC needs to go over there and recruit some asians. There is something about Pettis I don't like. Can't put my finger on it. Dude is entertaining, no doubt. Can't figure it out, just always root for him to lose....
