What'd everyone think? And I'm confused, is Clottey is gonna fight Cintron or Cotto next? If he fights Cintron, he'll beat Kermit the fraud's ass. He'll lose to Cotto though.
I agree. Clottey has way too much skill for Cintron. BTW love the sig. Roger Mayweather needs his own show.
Cintron falls apart if he cant take a guy out early and the guy punches back. Clottey has a good enough chin to take Cintron's shots early, and he'll certainly punch back.
..... When someone actually punches back with power Clottey fades and starts crying about his hands. Kinda sounds similiar to Cintron in that regard. The fight tonight don't qualify, Alvarez sucks.
Well we'll see then, cause Clottey is not Kermit's mandatory. If Cintron has the balls to fight him, I'm picking Clottey. Clottey is a good fighter, not elite, but very solid.
I saw it and thought Clottey was pretty impressive. However his level of competition left a lot to be desired. I also caught a glimpse of Cintron's last fight and was a lot less impressed. Cintron still looks like a sloppy boxer, he's almost like a 147lb Klitchko and I think Clottey would easily handle him. I like Clottey's style and would like to see him fight Cotto. People diss Clottey and mentally he deserves it but everytime I think of how well he handled Margarito those first few rds make me hope he eventually puts it all together.
I admire his brilliant LEGAL defence, it's so refreshing to see a fighter obeying the rules instead of twisting his back to avoid the heat. I do however believe like most, that his mentallity will unfortunately, be his undoing.
Did anyone catch young Vanes Martirosyan last night? He looked super sharp in his first fight under Ronnie Shields in a brutal knockout in 94 seconds of the first round last night. I got a long, hard look at him working a couple of weeks ago at Savannah's and there is going to be a feature on him next week here. Very nice and respectful kid, a real gentleman outside of the ring, but a killer inside of it.
I think the fight with Clottey and Cintron is much closer than we think. Clottey has almost zero power in his punches. He landed some great punches last night, yet never once did he drop Alvarez nor did he really ever have him in even serious trouble. He was easily hit by Alvarez as well. We can say his chin will stand up, but when he gets a bomb landed by Cintron we will see. I do think he is more technically sound than Cintron. But he is far from brilliant, his work rate is low and when pressed he has stamina issues. I would expect to see Cintron press this fight early and be looking to see Clottey fade. All in all, its a decent fight and a fun one to watch.opcorn:
I watched it again tonight, don't you folks dismiss Clottey's chances here. He is tough as nails and will bring it to Kerm, could be a classic action fight. I know one thing, it will be a fan friendly fight to be sure, regardless of the outcome or how long it lasts. Karl
Good call. Both are barely above average compared to world class. Monzon isn't top five material Karl.
Clottey will beat the fuck out of Cintron. Cintron alwayas has a puncher's chance. But Clottey is overrall a better fighter. Feliciano was nothing compared to the problems Clottey will bring.
