losing to a guy half your size is not something that will be rebembered kindly

He'll be rebembered as a guy who have lost most of his fights

I wouldn't go as far as calling Oscar's legacy a joke. Sure this adds some tarnish, but Oscar has the best resume of probably any fighter in the last 15 years.

One loss doesn't erase it no matter how bad it was.

I knew this would happen. :bangh:

Oscar Dela Hoya loses to the greatest fighter of our generation and now he's some chump who is a joke. :dunno:

Please, that's disrespectful to the sport of boxing. Oscar Dela Hoya is a great fighter, back then, now, and in the future. What he did in boxing makes him great, it's just that at this time and point, Manny is the better fighter. Him losing to Manny doesn't change what he accomplished in the ring. Oscar has always been a fighter I admired.

to be honest, watching tonight was a little bit of deja vu....i had the same emotions when Joe was doing what he liked with RJ.......as much as people like to hate on oscar, that display tonight didn't bare any resemblance to DLH as we know him......the weight (and maybe not so much the limit, but how he went about making it) completely destroyed him.........so as far as his legacy goes, like Roy Jones....i consider the bout seperate and outside of the consideration one undertakes when assessing a boxer's legacy as a whole

not according to Alabama. The Oscar of tonight was as good as the Oscar from 1995.

    Good post.

I used to be a fan of Oscar's years ago. I'm also a big fan of Jones.

Once fighters start using their "market value" to avoid tough fights because they can make simlar money with a lighter task it's hard to digest as a fan.

If i was in the same position i'd probably do the same. However i'm a boxing fan, not a financial advisor. Just because something is understandable from another perspective doesn't make it "right".

Although Roy and Oscar aren't the same guy, both became business men first and fighters second. Fighting part time caught up with both of them.

He lost to Felix Sturm. You can only go up from there.

watching the fights was deja vu as i said, but the situations are different....Jones should have bowed out years ago.....he's shot, whereas DLH appeared shot to bits tonight, but i think the weight played more of apart than age.......at 154 i don't think he would appear to have disintegrated to the degree it looked like tonight.....i feel like such an arse cos Pacquaio couldn't have done any better, but DLH may as well have been a life size cutout of his formerself

No matter how shitty he fought last night, DLH still achieved a lot and had a very good career. His legacy is that of a Hall of Famer and one of the top fighters of this era.
