    According to the L.A. Times.

"A seven-foot-tall bronze statue of Oscar De La Hoya will join similar tributes to Los Angeles sports stars Magic Johnson and Wayne Gretzky at Staples Center, officials announced Wednesday."

Not bad for a venue he's only fought in once.

There's certainly been better boxers than DLH, but culturally, he's a So Cal icon and it's cool for boxing to have a statue right there next to basketball and hockey.

Oscar helped revive SoCal boxing during the early 90's. He deserves a 10 foot statue, not a seven foot one. Probably should be gold too, considering who he is and all.

it is only a matter of time before some los angeles delinquents vandalize the statue by adorning it with fishnets.
