Just thinking about this, I had him winning against Norwood, John and today. Where would he stand P4P and all-time, if he had a better standing/luck with the judges. :dunno:

Unless you're knocked out, every fighter has some kind of case for being undefeated.

Marquez is one of the best fighters in the sport, has a fucking TONNE of heart, has been in some fantastic fights and hasn't done anything to do anything outside of the ring but endear himself to fans.

I question what people DON'T like about Marquez. Those are the kinds of boxing fans we don't need.

I thought Barrera beat him if you count the knockdown.

Tam - was it not you who started calling Marquez Blockhead etc? I thought you didn't like him actually.

I think it was round 8 when Pac was hurt and getting wobbled. HBO's crew was silent the whole time. Not saying a word. Manny Steward is now the #1 Pacman groupie. :eek:ld:

you guys shouldn't be hating on any of these two boxers, we need them right now to fight the third fight and they're good for boxing. they're both great unless you hate one of them.

not even close, I apparently am one of the few who doesn't ejaculate every time Marquez lands a punch.

Marquez is a whiner who never gives credit after he loses. I thought the Barrera fight was even, and I really have a hard time with anyone who says he "won" the Chris John fight.

That tells me that u guys have some unnatural love of his style, or something. I mean really, Manny landed the better cleaner punches all night long, and I read shit like Kevin Iole's RbR's and its as if Pacquiao was doing nothing the whole night.

I really don't understand the pro-Marquez/anti Pacquiao bias. Pacquiao clearly won the 12th, and I really don't see what it is you guys are seeing when you claim this crap.

Fair enough. I haven't seen these 3 fights so I can't argue. I do feel he won the first Pacquiao fight though.

What I do find funny though is with every close fight Juan is in, you see it as a loss. Then you think the people who occasionally see him winning a close fight or 2 as being biased, blind, or bad scorers. You have no doubt that you're right on all your opinions and everyone else is straight up wrong who disagrees.

I have no problem if someone thinks pacquiao won the fight, by a point maybe. but NO WAY he won the last round.

whenever marquez would have a good round or land some shots, steward would just say "but pacquaio looks SO strong going back to his corner"....who gives a fuck, emmanuel?

Well, no, because he lost his first pro fight by DQ.

But I do agree with the spirit of the thread, unfortunately.

I had him beating Norwood by 1 or 2 points, he most certainly beat John (that was quite a bad decision IMHO)....and I thought he won last night by 1 point (114-113).

He's just one of those fighters who can't seem to get close decisions to go his way. Part of that may be because of his counterpunching style and patience; part is because he does alot of little things he doesn't seem to always get credit for (i.e.; his quick inside uppercuts and his bodywork, both of which were in evidence last night).

It happens to some guys. That - and money - is why he's felt the need to alter his style somewhat recently, I'd guess.

    Peace.

    I didn't get that.

I did feel bias last night - when JMM was landing it was strangely quiet - unless he landed a REALLY big right hand.

Hell, there were times when JMM was landing left hooks or combo uppercut/rights that were short or inside - and Lampley or Steward literally talked right over and through them.

When Manny threw a big left it was always commented on - even if it didn't land; it "pushed JMM back" - even when it was Marquez stepping back or leaning away on his own.

    Peace.

What rounds did you give Chris John in their fight, bro?

And I really can't see how the Barrera fight is even, really.

    Peace.

That's funny, I actually thought they were favoring Marquez to build the fight up (which they wouldn't have needed to). I think they applauded several JMM's right hands that didn't land

That did happen as well...Lamps misses or miscalls shots on both sides.

However, having seen the fight three times already ( sorry, but it's a great fight!); the weight is definitely on the Manny side when you factor in both Lampley and Steward.

There are umpteen times where they literally talk through or over shots JMM is landing that are clean - and they just wait for the next Pac shot to comment on - again, unless it was a really noticeable right hand by JMM.

Hell, they even missed a lead left hook by Marquez in the 10th at about :37 that literally made Pacquiao do a mini-Judah.

The only one talking sense to me was Merchant.

    Peace.

this is like every other "controversial" decision. When I come onto the boards, there's usually one or two lunatic's spewing junk about how fighter A was robbed.

When Mayweather beat DLH, there were people on this board crying robbery. When Casamayor received the gift of his life, Gatti came on here saying he beat Santa Cruz:rolleyes: (amazing that gatti scored this fight for marquez:rolleyes: )

This was a fight I watched with multiple mexicans who were rooting for Marquez. When it was over, NOBODY in the room thought Marquez won. What we saw was a good contested fight (maybe FOTY material) where Pacquiao did the better damage most of the night and almost got screwed out of a decision by Jerry "Trinidad won 3 of the first four against DLH, and Oscar won the 12th" Roth.

Then I come on here, and EVERYONE seems to think Marquez deserved a decision. And countless people come on here saying he gets screwed every time. Which is ridiculous, I thought both Pacquiao fights were 7-5, 6-6 type contests which because of KD's Marquez would lose. I just wonder how many close Pacquiao rounds you'd have to give to Marquez for "superior body work and defending Manny's shots" to think this decision was bad.

And I will say this again, Manny Pacquiao won the 12th CLEAR. Hopefully there will soon be a video so we can go through and highlight how he landed big punch after big punch and even got the better of exchanges when they both landed.
