Williams-Quintana is only two weeks away so lets start predicting.... does Quintana have any chance, or will The Punisher overwhelm him?
This is a solid fight. Quintana's not a great fighter, but he's a solid top 10-12 contender. Williams doesn't have much on his resume outside of Margarito so this fight should help fill it out a bit more if he can win as expected.
REED would Give Quintana a 30-40% Chance of Pulling the Upset... Williams had Some MINOR Problems w/the SPEED & Southpaw Delivery of Sharmba Mitchell...Quintana's BIGGER & a BETTER Puncher than Sharmba... Generally, Quintana's a Butter Smooth Boxer-Puncher, but it Remains to B Seen How Much the Cotto BEATDOWN Took Out of him (Mentally AND Physically)... Williams' WORKRATE will ALWAYS Make him SUSCEPTIBLE to Counters & Quintana is a VERY GOOD Counterpuncher...Also, Williams DOESN'T Punch Anything like Cotto or Joel Julio, so a KO is DOUBTFUL... Williams SHOULD Win, but it WOULDN'T Surprise REED to See Quintana OutBOX him... REED
What does quintana's name on someone's resume mean though? What exactly has he ever done to be considered anyone of importance? His best win is over a fellow prospect who also has yet to do anything with his career.
dsimon writes: Boy what a difference a day makes.... Quintanna was the next thing after instant oatmeal until what? Cotto? Cotto punches hard, he caught Quintanna I don't know if I would call the fight a beatdown, though in truth Quintanna got beat up a bit...Like most Cotto opponents. Look for Quintanna to look pretty good win or lose. Cotto is a tough fight lets not be revisionist to the point of adsurdity here!
Quintana's a top 10-12 guy, considering Williams's resume he's easily one of the best fighters he's fought.
I don't know if he was the next thing, but he benefitted from the immense hype that surrounded Joel Julio (thanks in large part to Dan Rafael)...though I really never understood it after watching him fight for the first time. It was just one of two poor eliminators in '06 between four completely unproven prospects (Williams-Matthysse was the other).
I could only come up with 9, it's too cloudy after that. I guess you can say Quintana has as much of a claim to the number ten spot as a ton of other guys that have done an equal amount of nothing. :tease: Floyd Mayweather Miguel Cotto Paul Williams Antonio Margarito Kermit Cintron Shane Mosley Zab Judah Joshua Clottey Luis Collazo
Credit to you for predicting the POSSIBILITY of an upset, but dont pat yourself on the back TOO hard, cause you didnt actually pick Quintana.::
