By definition, a “dark horse†is a little known contestant whose chances of winning are doubtful or uncertain. In the pugilistic sense, it’s a fighter who’s brought in to be just an opponent or a steppingstone to pad the record of a more heavily hyped foe. Manager/trainer Al Smith has embraced the term, even adopting the name “Dark Horse Boxing†for his stable of fighters. The heart and soul of this ensemble is Domonic Jenkins (13-8-1, 6 KO’s), who will be facing 2004 United States Olympian, Jason Estrada (13-1, 3 KO’s), on August 29th, 2008 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights†will broadcast the showdown live. http://fightbeat.com/article_detail.php?AT=669
