Well, time to plow through this card today. Just saw the first match, and Hideo Tokoro got suplexed onto the side of his head, knocking him out. His opponent didn't know (Yusup Saadulaev), so his opponent gave him a few more punches to the side of the head as he laid down facefirst on the canvas. Shades of Frank Shamrock - Igor Zinoviev with a Goodridge-Taktarov followup.
Man, the slo-mo replays show his head really bounced off that canvas. If you ever tried to suplex someone onto their forehead and face, this is pretty much the way you'd do it. Their combined bodyweight came down on his head. Ouch. No New Year's Eve champagne for him.
Imanari has a weird style. He's really upright because he's trying to set up takedown attempts, throwing high kicks and keeping his hands low. This other guy is nervous and twitchy, but Imanari manages to land a few kicks to the body. Banuelas replies with a few low kicks and some grazing headshots. I don't know that Imanari has anything to be so arrogant about. He comes across as cocky, but he's probably best remembered for getting knocked out by Joachim Hansen during one of those Pride Bushido tournaments a few years ago. He dove for a leglock and Hansen countered with a knee that knocked him nearly senseless.
Man, that Bibiano Fernandes fight was pretty lacklustre. In the first round, his tighter standup allowed him to throw more compact shots to set up his takedown. From the takedown there were about 100 landed elbows to the outside of his opponent's thigh where you'd expect to get the Charley horse. He tried a kimura a few times, but the other guy kept his arm in close. They were lodged in the corner doing little other than Fernandes elbowing the other guy's thigh although he did nail him with some elbows to the kidney. It was a fight where one guy's ability almost nullified the other guy's, but Marques got tagged a few times in the second round and then went for a single leg to ride out the cobwebs. He wound up losing the decision, but it was a pretty dull fight with each guy being unable to do much.
Wow, Yuta Kubo was impressive in his muay thai match, but it's to be expected when the other guy takes the fight on 10 days notice. Nils Widlund was game, but he caught a left high roundhouse kick to the head in the first round that was followed up by a knee to the face when he was almost on the canvas. Kubo is a K-1 champion, and Widlund was brought in on short notice. The only surprise I guess is that Widlund was very tough in the first round and doing decently in the second. He got worn down and stopped in the third. Tough kid, but he looked too small against Kubo.
Well, I watched some of the remaining matches. Other than Fedor's fight, there wasn't much to write home about. The pro wrestling matches were sad, but Tim Sylvia made me laugh when he tried to make it look like he was getting hurt by LeBanner's boxing gloves.
Hey buddy, Is the last pic on that gif a koed Rashad Evans?? If so, fucking brilliant!!!!:laughing:
It is Rashad. Whoever created it is fucking brilliant, alright. I doubt Rashad would think so however. :: I saw it on another forum and it made me laugh so hard I cried.
