USA Today reported Monday that early indications from cable companies were that the scheduled 12-round light-welterweight bout could get as many as two million buys.

Co-promoter Bob Arum was delighted with the figures especially as initial estimates were suggesting about one million boxing fans would shell out their cash.

"We know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run," he said.

    -------------------------------

That's amazing if those figures hold up, considering no Latino fighter or American was headlining. I was expecting the PPV to do a fraction of those estimates.

That's an unusual figure. I was expecting no more than 600K. If this is really true, I assume pacman will accept nothing less than a 50-50 split against Fairyweather. Nor should he accept anything less.

If Hamed was in his prime, Pac/Hamed would've smashed many records.

Mayweather-Marquez will be extremely lucky to do 1 million. More realistically it'll do half that.

That's MORE than Floyd-Hatton Did AND More than Floyd-JM Marquez will Do...If this is TRUE, 50/50 is a GENEROUS Split for Floyd...

    I wonder if they'll do a 24/7 for Mayweather-Marquez.

It probably would be a good idea. JMM isn't as well known to mainstream fans. They could show a lot of highlights of him getting the better of Pacquiao which would make people pay attention.

I wonder if that's taking into account the sales overseas?

Yeah, they are. Floyd said during the presser that the 24/7 crew was there filming then.

Hopefully Roger's segment at the podium makes it on HBO. He stole the show as usual...

you forget...for Pacquiao 600K in the states in a good number..excellent considering he isn't american or speak the language to well..

then you include another 600-700K from the UK...

900K of the buys from Mayweather vs. Hatton came from the UK....like i said before MAYWEATHER is not the huge draw he think he is...U have to fight the right opponent...

 Won't it be great watching Mayweather scramble for explanations for why his historic comeback fight does less than a third the numbers of Hatton-Pac?

Arum said a much bigger number then was the real amount of PPV buys for Oscar-Pac. I can't amagine how this fight done that many buys.

Mayweather should have to get on his knees and BEG pac to fight him. Pac doesn't need Floyd what so ever.

Didn't they estimate 1.5 mill for De La Hoya-Pac and it came out to 1.25?

Really. Mayweather is Pacs biggest fight and vice versa. If the numbers are true then Floyd-Pac could beat Oscar-Floyd.

Pac has way more big fight options that Floyd does. Who is Floyd going to fight after JMM? Does anyone believe he'll fight the best 147 pounders? He had a chance to do that already and retired instead.

Mayweather is Manny's biggest fight and vice versa. Your smoking crack if you think either guy can do more PPV buys fighting Cotto, Shane, PWill or JMM.

They can both do just fine without eachother. In no way is Floyd entitled to even parity against Pac right now though. Make no mistake about that.

Pac/Cotto will sell out MSG. Floyd isn't that important. Your boy Floyd needs to show some balls and fight Mosley.

Why would that be? He is entitled to at least parity with Pacquiao right now. The Hatton - Mayweather and Hatton - Pacquiao fights will probably end up selling around the same, and the Mayweather - Marquez fight will probably do more than the Marquez - Pacquiao II fight did.

I think that it should be a 50/50 split.

    Umm. No.

If Mayweather-Marquez does over 500,000, it will be because a whole bunch of Mexicans and Filipinos are looking to see if Pac-Marquez III or Pac-Mayweather will come off. Very few people will buy this fight based on Mayweather alone.

Equal or more than Mayweather, which is why this fight won't sell very much for a super fight.

you are such a fag...get Manny dick out of your mouth...Mayweather is a much bigger draw than Marquez...

Mayweather might not be as big a draw as his cunty ass think he is.....but he can draw good ppv numbers...

I bet Mayweather vs. Marquez...beats the ppv numbers for Pacquiao vs. Marquez fights...
