I don't mind eating crow, but I am a bit distressed.... Joe landed nothing of consequence, I don't feel like he hit Hopkins with most of his punches and at any rate they did not cause much damage.

I don't think it was a bad decision but it was one of those fights that neither guy really showed dominance imo. guess he won though even though Hopkins rocked him a few times so here it is..... yum.

i'll also eat crow because i overated Calslappy by thinking he would have no problem beating an old and much smaller Hopkins

'Calzaghe UD' was my pic, as i thought he'd have no problem beating a very old and shot Hopkins

however, Slappy proved to be a fraud by only managing to pull out a SD...and he wasn't even able to keep the fight on the outside like his footwork and handspeed should have enabled him to

If you're getting heat, It's because of the nature of your prediction.
As such, you need an extra serving...Nobody to blame but yourself...

Very surprised to find most people thought Calzaghe won that fight. Maybe the alcohol and exhaustian clouded my judgement but I barely remember Joe landing more than 2 or 3 telling blows in the entire fight. He was all heat and no light. Before the 12th Bouie and Freddie tell Bernard in a relaxed voice, 'yeah, your winning this fight', over in the other Enzo's hopping up and down saying 'you absolutely need a knock out'. At the time I agreed with both trainers.

I had Hopkins 5 up after 4 and he certainly won a couple rounds after that. To me Calzaghe fought a retarded fight, was totally unable to make the adjustments he needed (ie to fight an in and out fight without getting greedy and trying to trade on the inside after landing his initial shot/s) and basically got bested.

Well my take on the fight was that Hopkins took the first 4 and then practically did nothing for the rest of the fight, granted Joe didn't land that many telling shots but he was trying to, Hopkins didn't try anything so I couldn't score the rounds for Hopkins, Joe was constantly the aggressor.

In saying that I was still worried about the result as the fight was in America and the rounds where close.

And it was only a week ago that we saw Dawson getting battered but still retaining his belt.

I'll eat mine... I picked Hops to drop him 6 times and stop him:lol: when Hops dropped him I was going crazy!!!

that said.. it really showed how crappy Crapzaga is

I knew Bernard would land the sneaky right hand like he did but what Joe did not capitalize on was that the opposite of that for him (the straight left) was his to land!!! he did it a few times but he really could have DOMINATED Hops if he did this!!!

Calslappy is garbage, but he still beat Bernard with his best junk. Just goes to show how shitty Bernard is at this point. He can't throw more than 3 punches a round. Bernard survives on shere craft, but you can't win fights running around like a bitch.

Damn, I don't think Bouie Fisher has been in Bernard's corner since the first Taylor fight. I may be wrong though.

I do miss him however. I love his talking between rounds. He always had that Howling Wolf sound to him like he should have been singing a blues lyric instead of giving corner instructions.

Agreed. But I think he was getting a lil' senile there. I still remember the last fight he did with Hops and thinking, "...wtf?"

    Think Hops realized it too.

i forgot fisher had left. Regardless, some old black geezer was telling him that anyway and at 4:30am after 6 drinks the name 'bouie fisher' was quite good enough for me.
