Rosario would take him out before the third round was completed. Chico was made to order for the destructive Boriqua hitter.
Holy crap....what a match-up. I can't see this clearly at all....part of me says Rosario's superior boxing skills and defense should carry the day.... But Corrales had major height on him; and Diego had such quick hands inside and was a very good counter puncher...and I don't know that Rosario moved well enough to be able to go in & out on Diego and make it a smart boxing match. We've seen both men hit by big punchers and make it to the end and/or recover.....but there's a kicker: Diego has the edge in sheer mental confidence and willpower....he folds less, especially mentally. I think this fight may come down to sheer WILL...who is more willing to take a risk to land the bombs; and when hurt, who is more willing to get up and fight and/or will themselves to turn it around. And that is a department where Corrales excelled. So - Rosario had more skills, punched like an absolute mule; and should by rights win this fight. BUT in the intangibles that often matter most when both fighters are hurt....Corrales has a big edge. Funnily enough, I can see this going quite a few rounds until the decisive end....certainly past 8-9 rounds. I am undecided. :dunno:
Great, great fight. Corrales would be facing the most punishing and pulverizing puncher he ever did, Plus.....other than Floyd and Casamayor, Rosario would be the most skilled boxer he ever fought. The height and reach wouldn't make a difference simply because Diego never utilized his emense physical advantages. Rosario brutally within seven rounds.
