    And gets picked apart brutally

Valero's face would be 10 times more battered than his poor wife's

Yeah, it'd get pretty brutal for Valero.

Valero is undefeated and not just that, he KO'd every single fighter placed in front of him. He's never seen a judges verdict.

    Arguello was stopped four times.

Of course the facts don't tell the entire story, we have to factor in the intangibles....

Arguello is a legend of yesteryear

Valero is a hated suicidal wife-killer who had been active since the start of the new millenium.

Therefore, by default, Arguello wins without even thinking twice.

I do. I have mad respect for your opinions.

I didn't say that Arguello wouldn't have won, I'm just pointing out the general mentality that prevails in this forum.

I agree. For example - the Mancini/Valero thread. Valero would have fucked Mancini up!

    you're so queer

Arguello was stopped early in his career as a teenager (one of these off of a broken hand) and then twice at the end of his career against a great fighter while fighting in his fourth weight class

Arguello hit like a train but with about 10 times the skills and smarts of Valero... it's a no brainer

you mean the way Jose Luis Ramirez, stronger and more skilled than Valero, did?

Mancini took pin-point fight-over shots from Arguello for 14 rounds and kept coming forward, kept pressing and throwing, he was immensely strong and determined... I don't see anyway that Valero just blows him out (no one else ever did so by any stretch) and he certainly doesn't have the skills to box him... If Mancini can bull Ramirez around the ring, take everything but the kitchen sink from Alexis, walk right through Bobby Chacon's hardest, cleanest shots and stop him, he can certainly hang with Edwin Valero

Let me borrow your hot sister for a night and see if she says the same thing!

    JUST KIDDING!!

Valero is a knockout machine. Arguello could be hurt and stopped. It isn't a no brainer.

    "However"

If one does use their brain, I agree that Arguello wins when I factor in everything into the equation..not just that one was great and the other is a suicidal wife-killer.

    How about this

Valero had all the offensive subtlety and defensive responsibility of Khaosai Galaxy after 7 tequila shots.

Alexis Arguello was among the elite p4p punchers of all time, in terms of not only power but accuracy and punch picking and he thrived on guys coming at him.

Therefore, by default, Arguello wins without even thinking twice.

    Based on what?

Valero is basically Freitas, if he'd died before fighting Casamoyer. Except more exciting & probably not as good.

    How about this

Iran Barkley had all the offensive subtlety and defensive responsibility of Khaosai Galaxy after 7 tequila shots.

Thomas Hearns was among the elite p4p punchers of all time, in terms of not only power but accuracy and punch picking and he thrived on guys coming at him.

Therefore, by default, Hearns wins without even thinking twice

    OR DOES HE?

Arguello was a durable guy who faced MANY vicious punchers (guys who proved their power against a vastly better class of fighter than Valero ever did) and he took them out, he took their shots and answered

The idea of anyone one-punching Arguello is absurd and not supported by anything in reality... Arguello was stopped (again one of these a freak injury, not anything an opponent did) as a kid learning the game and still growing... after that he was rock solid for a decade, only getting stopped after absorbing ceaseless punishment from a great fighter (Pryor)

Tommy had been hurt many times in his career prior to Barkley icing him... and even then, the remoteness of that shot seems to fly over people's heads... If they fought 100 times in the same exact shape they were in that night, Barkley lands that shot probably once... he was getting utterly destroyed

Arguello had a better chin than Tommy, better legs, better stamina
