I don’t think he looked as bad as his detractors say but he did look a little uninspired, though. I think Boots might be one of those guys that’s gonna need top level guys to bring out the best in him and I personally don’t think that fighting lower tier guys will help his development. Maybe this last showing will encourage guys to fight him now. If he can’t get a top guy at 147, he should try to go to 154 and put himself in position for the Charlo-Tszyu winner.
I'd imagine he's become bored with fighting no hopers. I think he'll shine whenever he fights a top guy.
i think it had everything to do with the opponent. his negative style showed flaws in ennis that he needs to improve.
His opponent had a weird style and a sturdy chin. I guess we are expecting a knockout from him every single time and as we know some boxers just dont go away. But from seeing his last fight its hard to imagine hes ready for Bud or Spence. He lacks experience imo.
ennis won every round. and landed plenty of shots that would've caved lesser chins. people are acting like he got out-boxed or something.
you cant look good in every fight. particularly against a guy like that. i do believe spence or crawford may have stopped him, but that doesnt translate to them beating ennis or him not being ready for them. styles make fights. perhaps he isnt as ready as he will be in a year or two if hes able to get the right steps up in competition. nonetheless Id pick him right now over either, and bet on him. and his team would absolutely jump on the chance to face either. if anything maybe that fight gives vErgil Ortiz's team more hope and we get that matchup this year.
I prefer one of Ennis and Ortiz to have a belt before they fight each other (interim belt not withstanding)
To the casual boxing/sports fan having a belt means something. Obviously those of us that follow boxing closely know better. So for the marketability value it makes sense they are both title holders when they fight. They can bill it as champion vs champion. It will make the victory that much sweeter.
