Name some films you like that are in no way "Great" and may even be critiqued as downright mediocre but are nevertheless fun/entertaining/engrossing...

Dressed To Kill (1980) and Body Double (1984), both by Brian De Palma ... Typical De Palma, stylish, vulgar, suspenseful, etc

Race With The Devil (1975)... Completely ridiculous suspense film with Peter Fonda and Warren Oates on a winnebago trip with their wives rudely interrupted by a cult of small-town Satan Worshippers... Can they trust anyone????

First Blood (1982) ... The first of Stallone's bloated Rambo series and by far the best... Ridiculous action sequences, Brian Dennehy in his typical perpetually grumpy and ill-tempered performance as an unrealistically wrong-headed local Sheriff, Richard Crenna as a ridiculous military cartoon and Stallone's borderline retarded soliloquy on the horrors of Vietnam... Sure, it's stupid and a laugh riot, but you'll watch the whole fucking thing anyway

Heathers (1988) ... Sleazy, flirts dangerously with trying to be more clever than it is, Slater does one of his worst Jack Nicholson impersonations... Still, there's some genuinely hilarious shit in this film, especially the name of the hit song and the group who sings it... "I love my dead, gay son!"

The Ninth Gate (1999) ... Johnny Depp chews the scenery as a rare-book expert/dealer faced with Satanic opposition... Satan always makes for a good time at the movies

From Hell (2001) ... Johnny Depp once again attempts to make a film substantial just by being good at acting in this ridiculous period piece dealing with Jack The Ripper... Though Satan influences the proceedings, it is secret societies Johnny is wrestling with here... Pre-dating her terrible miscasting as an Irish prostitute in "Gangs Of New York", Cameron Diaz appears here as a terribly miscast English prostitute

The Omen (1977) ... This film borders on being genuinely excellent, thanks in large part to Gregory Peck's presence, but since it stars our buddy Satan, it's bound to be campy and ridiculous... Very entertaining... My parents saw it in the theater and were so unnerved by the resemblance of the little boy who played Damien to my older brother that they were a little scared of him for a few weeks after seeing it

Race With The Devil is awesome:laughing:

I like the original Last House on the Left , directed by Wes Craven. It is loosely based on Ingemar Bergman movie The Virgin Spring. The main villain in this movie, played by musician David Hess, was pretty scary/sleazy looking.

your list is inaccurate. First Blood and The Omen are freaking classics and 'mediocre' and 'trash' does not apply to critically acclaimed films like 'From Hell' or cult classic 'Heathers'.

An example of what the thread title suggest can be Repo: A Genetic Opera a complete trash film from concept to execution, but somehow managed to keep me watching the whole repulsive thing.

None of those films are seen as actual classics... Casablanca is a classic

My favorite is The Quick and The Dead, but I don't think it meets the criteria since it's actually a pretty good movie. Not a "classic" western in the same way as Tombstone, or Unforgiven, but a highly entertaining movie which is made even better by the great acting of Hackman, young Leo, and Crowe.

I don't know if they can be considered trashy, but I know they're not considered top tier films...anyway Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow are two films I can watch over and over again. Gotta hand it to Tom Cruise, he stars in some bloody entertaining films. Love all of the Mission Impossible films for example.

They are not legendary masterpieces, but they are minor classics just like 'Enter The Dragon' is a classic, but not in the 'Gone With The Wind ' level. :nana:

Films are much better now than they were though, on average.

Better acting nowadays, better plots as well as better effects, etc. Casablanca and GWTW are virtually unwatchable nowadays.

:bears: Good pick of a truly trashy movie that is so bad is good. I mean, a story of girl whose main goal is to show her pussy to as many people as possible is just 'the stuff dreams are made of'.
Like this one here, cheerfully showing the hairy pussy between her legs...

Grosse Point Blank--- Flows just well enough to work for me. Perfect blend of light hearted, dark comedy and completely underwhelming drama. Just enough of every bit character (i.e. Jeremy Pivens, Alan Arkin, Joan Cusack) to keep them on the edge of being annoying. The lead, John Cusack, is like the grown up, hit man version of his characters in High Fidelity or Say Anything.

House of 1000 Corpses---- Basically Rob Zombie's own version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a little more creepiness and a few more oddball, but entertaining characters. I wouldn't say it was a horror movie or scary, but it does have a few "jump in your seat" moments.

Same here. He's done some pretty good movies lately. Oblivion is sooooo underrated. Edge of Tomorrow was solid too.
