Next to Marciano-Frazier, this is perhaps the second most exciting fight of all time.

    Gimme Commander Vander! :hammert:

I assume that's over twelve rounds? I could not see Holyfield beating Frazier in a fifteen-rounder, myself. He'd have his chances through twelve. Ultimately, I think Holyfield's tendency to sometimes take rounds off (in fights fought at a much less demanding clip than that which a peak Frazier would force) would cost him a close decision over twelve, & I think he runs out of petrol before the final bell over fifteen.

Frazier based on stamina, & Holy's tendency to brawl.

Agreed, and especially the body attack. Holyfield could of course take a shot, but I've seen him doubled over or hurt numerous times to the body. He seemed hurt at the end of a round against Moorer from a body shot, Foreman doubled him over a couple times from body shots, Bowe hurt him several times to the body, Lewis hurt him in the 5th round of the first fight with bodywork, eventually Toney stopped an old Holyfield largely because of body shots.

I think Frazier's consistent body attack would be vital in him winning a great fight.

    Dude...

I was immediately tempted to start a little smacktalk battle and then decided against it. Why you gotta provoke a brother like that for no reason?

I DO think Frazier is overrated...but Chris Byrd? Come on now... Frazier was a decent heavyweight and would have beaten lots of former heavyweight champions. i just think he's not GREAT and rather one dimensional.

    It's 100% pure racism.

cdogg works for an insruance company, as do i.

I brought up his records going back 4 years. 87% of all claims he has denied were from black people.

Excellent point, & one I considered making in my post. I think that's a big issue in this fight sometimes overlooked...Holyfield could be hurt downstairs. Bowe employed body-punching to great effect, especially first-time around. No one had a better assault downstairs than Frazier, & that, coupled with his superior motor, get him home.

Holyfield's jab & combinations would take their toll, though. Can't see Frazier emerging from the one without a busted melon, but Holyfield would be pissing blood --- & probably loving it, warrior that he was.
