thanks for posting this disclaimer - which fittingly comes as I enter the 57-minute point of the show  :: Will comment soon. I will say though, nice of Karl to mention Agbeko. The kid had the misfortune of fighting opposite the Pavlik-Taylor card. That, along with being a bantamweight, from South Africa, and fighting on Showtime, led to perhaps one of the year's most dominant performances in an UPSET going largely unnoticed in the boxing world.
oops :: We tried to take some of the advice from the last show and keep the guys from jumping in on each other.
yeah, it was more balanced this week in that regard. Andrew was a solid addition, nice to hear him back on the FB airwaves :bears: If there's any criticism to this week, it's that I would've expected more discussion regarding this week's bouts. Though in all fairness, I too forgot all about Ibragimov-Holyfield until Andrew mentioned it. So it's easy to see how it would fall off the radar. But that said, and especially considering Karl's affiliation w/ Diaz (or at least w/ Willie Savannah), I thought Diaz-Diaz would've received more airtime than "just" predictions. Also, five seemed like at least 1 or 2 too many. You can still have everyone on the show, but perhaps consider staggering them in shifts, with just you and your co-host starting and ending the show. There was a good balance in terms of everyone eventually getting to speak, but there were times where by the time the 4th guy said his peace on any given subject, you almost forgot what the 1st and 2nd guy said. Positives: - Everyone was on point in regards to Peter-McCline and the heavyweight division. - Nice exchange on the steroids in sports discussion, particularly the disagreement on Toney-Ruiz and how it did in fact benefit Toney. - As mentioned, Karl referencing Joseph Agbeko's otherwise largely unnoticed achievement. - A fair amount of balance in the Pac-Barrera discussion. All sides were presented, and none were corrupted by hidden agendas for or against either fighter.
Thanks for the advice Jake. So far it's good practice and a learning experience. It's also hard to manage such a large group and come up with questions to keep it going. But overall I think everyone really answered well and I was the weakest link hahahahahaa Cupey
WHITE BOY ? Which one of you racist mother fuckers referred to Golota as a white boy? First off he's a MAN. Second off BOY is a term reserved for blacks if you people remember correctly. Not that i agree with it but it is a term for blacks from back in the day.
omg somebody tell me who's saying these fucking retarded things "done for 10 years? " Didn't Golota arguablly beat IBF (byrd) champion and WBA (ruiz) champion just a couple of years ago? Who are you you fucking dumb sack of shit????
let me just add that it helped Toney in his recovery, not in beating Ruiz. But Jones lovers look for anything to defend his victory over Ruiz yet diminish Toney's. Toney beat the guy while barely training. Cupey
Kaliber, did you watch the McBride fight. Look at Golota's legs. Very very bad. I'm a Golota fan, but he's done. White boy is not offensive. I don't live in the past. He's a white boy because he's pale. Nothing more. I thought Golota beat Byrd, but Byrd is shot too. Cupey
yes, completely agREED. Toney's only drawback was the fight happened too soon - as in, not enough time for that stuff to flush out of his system. If I'm not mistaken, he wanted the fight later in the year (around July 2005 or), knowing that he would've most likely failed a drug test taking it that soon. But that said, I do believe he was roided up in his prior fight, against Booker.
True, but Roy was Roided up for his fight with Ruiz. It helped Roy be strong enough to hurt Ruiz, but it didn't help him clown that fool for 12 rounds--he did it with speed and his skill. Cupey
Exactly. Steroids only helps to a certain extent in boxing. They don't suddenly make a fighter more skillful or more intelligent in that ring.
I like when cupey asks who the next great heavyweight is going to be. Few second of silence while everyone struggles to pick ANY name they can think of. ::
Thanks Jake. It was great to get back on a show, and I had a blast. Always like hearing feedback from you.
He´s from Ghana and I don´t even think that was an upset, but I let it slide this time, since I just found out Epifanio and Tito Mendoza are not the same person. ld: ::
It was an upset, all right. That was a good southpaw kid he was in there against and he took some heavy shots winning the title.
It was an upset from an odds perspective. A few of us (I know Donnybrook and I were on the boards discussing it prior to the fight) said that Perez was long overdue for a letdown, so yeah you could see this coming. But for those who bet on the fight, it was a lucrative upset :bears: damn, you just NOW figured out that they're two different people?!
..but but I know every diaperweight from Thailand. ...and Agbeko, because he lost to Sidorenko. :tease: :tease:
