Hands down my favorite fighter to watch. Always came to fight, balls to the wall the whole time. Even when he was the much smaller man, he fought like he was a man posessed. You have to respect a man who fought with his head first style without ever even been knocked down in his career. A true warrior.

Thanks for the great career. You went out on your shield. Way to call it quits as soon as you realized that you no longer have it in you.

Fedor may be the best instinctual/natural fighter to ever do it.

And he went 10 years fighting the best fighters of his era and 30 fights undefeated fighting that way in a sport thats easy to lose in.This man was incredible and I say WAS with all due respect because he's not on that level anymore, but when he was at his best and on top of his game he was unbeatable IMO

EDIT I also liked the way he handled his losses,he handled it the same way he handled his wins with class, humility and respect for the other opponent.People thought he was being fake and it was all an act but that just proved he is a real dude.

He'll go down as the best heavyweight ever for a long time. Great master of his craft, and very respectful always. We won't see another like him for a long long time. Thanks Fedor.

Thanks for the wonderful fights Fedor. You never disappointed and brought your all for every fight. You are one who could never be counted out of a fight. Hit you in the jaw and you come back with 4. You fought all styles and sizes and beat them at their own game. Legend. :bears:

Fedor was the man, plain and simple. best ground and pound I ever saw.

he's past it now, and was past it for the last cvouple of years, but he still had a hell of a career, during MMa golden age

I'm not really up on MMA. I am expert on MMA from 1993-1999. But out of the loop since.

I know this guy is a legend. He's beaten the best of the best. He beat Pride, UFC, and K-1 champions and beat a lot of top guys without titles. But he lost tonight badly. I think it's time for him to hang it up.

One of the few guys in the history of the cage that could actually fight. I wish him the best.

If this is it, he went out fighting and showed class in the post-fight interview.

Fedor - thank you for 10 years of dominance and always giving me something exciting to look forward to. Every one of your fights was like a major holiday for me. Nobody fought with the intensity, determination and explosiveness that you did. Your ability to recover from strikes, transition from guard to mount and your swarming stand-up style is something that most are AFRAID to duplicate, yet you made it part of your trade every time. It was an honor to sit ringside with Bob N Weave at both Affliction shows and watch you dismantle your opponents. I will never forget the aura aurrounding you as you walked down the ramp and the explosions that went off in the building after you won. It was grown men crying, women giving birth, a parade of 1,000 drummers and the roof blew off the building all in unison! Thanks Fedor - for everything. Enjoy your retirement.

    Tweets from last night-

ShaneCarwin I have nothing but respect for Fedor. We all lose that is the one thing you can be sure of in MMA. He is still a GOAT imo.

joerogan If Fedor retires I will always be a fan. He carried himself like a zen warrior, and he fought like a man possessed. Respect always.

Sure Dana will appreciate that. Lol

I think deep down Dana was a huge Fedor fan. He was exactly the type of fighter that Dana always wants to have in the UFC. The kind of fighter that is coming to win. Whether it's throwing big punches or looking for a sub or non stop ground & pound, Fedor always came to fight.

If you're an MMA fan, regardless of where you work, you have to love that. Fedor can leave with a damn solid legacy. And it seems like he has the inner sense to know that he isn't the same. His body didn't look the same. His reflexes didn't look the same. It's great that is aware of those things. I just hope no one coaxes him into another fight for the $$$$.

Oh I know Dana was, otherwise he wouldn't have offered him so much money and held such a vendetta over him for so long because he couldn't sign him. But of course he would never admit it.

I totally agree. I fucking love to watch an outsized guy with a balls to the wall style. Basically the opposite of Lennox Lewis.

I like Fedor a lot. Prime Fedor is incredible to watch.

I agree with TLC too, I think he has the best natural fighting instinct of any MMA in history, and honestly, I think that's the main reason he was an elite fighter for so many years.

The man just KNEW how to fight, simple as that, and had the fighting spirit and toughness to compliment that natural fighting instinct.

fedor is just the kind of fighter you have to respect, didn't came in to win on points or play it safe but to beat some mf's up. He looked done in the SIlva fight, his standup, while alway,s sloppy, has lost his explosiveness and his quickness is far from what it used to be, but likek a true warrior, his fighting spirit was never broken in spite of the 2nd round beatdown and wanted to continue when the ref waved the fight off ( a bad call imo, not that he would have won but was a possibility has Silva has a strory of fading). Probably needs to retire or make some huge change in his training habits if he want to reclaim a fraction of his former dominance

REED Arrived to the "Fedor Party" LATE in the Game (Only Got to Watch his Pride Fights on Playbacks & Youtube), but REED had the UTMOST Respect for the Dude...& Like REED's Said Many Times, the BEST Part about Fedor was his LOOK...

DOUGHY Build, RECEDING Hairline, PANTIES...He Very Much Resembled a Middle Aged Man, PHYSICALLY...But he's 1 of THE BEST Combative Sports Athlete EVER...He's the Sugar Ray Robinson of MMA....

I will never forget the first time I ever saw Fedor fight. It was against Heath Herring. I just remember watching and listening to Stephen Quadros telling the audience how he wasn't on the same level as Heath Herring. As the fight continued, Stephen seemed to change his mind.:giggle:
