I don't know if this is as simple as "Trinidad hits hard, Williams gets hit therefore it's Tito by KO". That's not to say it's out of the question but there's more to look at. Yes Williams gets hit, but he's always recovered well and returns fire. He has a very long jab and we all know how well Trinidad handled those. Tito's money punch was the left hook which rarely is an effective weapon against a southpaw. Tito is the favorite but i think it's a winnable fight for Williams.
Its not ALWAYS that simple.... but in this case it is. Paul gets hit too damn much to beat a prime Tito. And watch some Williams fights. He gets hit with EVERY punch in the book, even vs right handers. And Tito had two-fisted power, not just a left hook. I see Williams doing well early, but eventually he takes a David Reid type beating and probably gets stopped. Hell... nevermind Tito, I have trouble favoring Paul over a prime Vargas. In fact, I'd pick Nando.
Do we base this on him beating everyone he's ever fought, or his style which makes for defensive holes. You think Tito the Robot would be able to deal with Tall Paul's activity?
Common sense called in, and said you should use it. Wright's style was entirely different from Paul's... plus I thought we were talking about a prime Tito here. The Tito that Wright beat almost certainly wasnt prime. I was one of the TOP people that used to call Tito overrated back in the day, but I must say.... nowadays he's very UNDERRATED. The one who's currently OVERRATED is Williams.
So many kneejerks. It is certainly not out of the question Williams can win this. Tito always has the possibility of landing that big shot but that doesn't mean it's a given he wins.
So many knee jerks is right. Paul Williams defense sucks! And I dont care how good his chin is, as often as he gets hit... he aint taking Tito's firepower all night. Tito was HOFmer, and Williams has become very OVERRATED.
Trinidad was not a great fighter. You are dead wrong abut that. No one is more overrated as Trinidad as you just proved calling him a "hall of famer" implying he was a great fighter which he absolutely was not. That said I agree 100% withyour analysis. Tito with or without his illegal wraps beats Williams 10 out of 10 times.Williams has the worst defense I have ever seen. Tito hits too hard to take 20 flush shots a round.
Tito was a great figher, and definitely HOF worthy. Was he an atg like a Pac, Hopkins, Jones, ect..... no. But he was a great figher.
Tall Paul is a overrated dude whou at his best... Tito would take out in 4 rounds, like put him out COLD
Paul would be ko'd for sure. He would be eating Tito's punches all night long. I dont see it going past 8-9 rounds.
The real Tito was not competitive against good fighters. This is a fact. Still, Williams gets kayo'd here. Williams, and I like him alot, can't fight a lick. He literally does not know how to fight. He is just a freak though. After Williams throws combos, he falls right in straight up and defenseless. Williams would get hit hard and flush by TITO and that would be it. Honestly, Williams is the only good fighter I can imagine Tito really beating.
He is a good fighter, but he can't fight at all. He is good because he is a freak. I should think you of all people would understand what I am writing. He is good/effective/formidable because he is 6 foot 2 and has an unending energy reserve and he fights in a strange fashion. However, he falls forward after every combo and stands straight up in the pocket. I think if Manny or Freddie Roach got a hold of him he would be an ATG. He just gets by on his freakish talent. So he is good, but he is also awful fundamentally and Tito was no balanced technical fighter either but way better than tall Paul in technical terms.
It all depends,.. does Tito have a hard taped ridge over his knuckles?.. if not,.. Paul by comfortable decision. I dont give 'immunity' to Margarito,..and I'm not giving it to Tito either,.. he was a far, far worse fighter without the wraps, and the wraps are a fact.
Tito could bang to the head and body, and at 147 and 154 nobody even came close to stopping the guy. Everytime he hit the mat he came back stronger. Williams could fight the likes of Quintana and Santos Pakau all night long and it wont make any difference. He has done nothing so far to suggest he has what it takes to beat Tito at 147 or 154. Remember, Williams did no better vs Margarito than Shane did, and Tito was, IMHO, a half-cut above Shane, especially at 154.
