1. Israel Vasquez vs Rafael Marquez II 2. Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah 3. Kelly Pavlik vs Jermain Taylor 4. Sakio Bika vs Jaidon Codrington 5. Joe Calzaghe vs Mikkel Kessler 6. Miguel Cotto vs Shane Mosley REED:dunno:
Cotto-Mosley isn't even close. Kessler-Calzaghe, for me, but I can live with Pavlik-Taylor, and it will probably get the vote from HBO, anyways.
But Should that even B a FACTOR when Guaging "Fight of the Year" ???:dunno: ... What SIGNIFICANCE did the Gatti-Ward Trilogy have, when it Won "Fight of the Year" ???...Or Ward-Burton???... REED:dunno:
Whether it should or shouldn't is irrelevant, I guess....point is it often does. And this year you've had fights that have been extremely action-packed AND fought at a high technical level WITH drama - and have been for "alot of marbles." It's hard for a "Contender fight" with two mediocre (but tough) fighters who have NEVER been in the elite level (at least Gatti and Ward were at the time or at points in their career) to compete when faced with the above. It's the combo of factors, IMHO. Peace.
Bika fought a better fight against Calzaghe then Ward or Gatti did against comp of that elite calibre.
mickey ward and. elite level should never be mentioned in the same sentence. vasquez - marquez 2 and a big gap to the rest
If "Significance" is a Factor, then REED'll Go w/Pavlik-Taylor...But Based PURELY on ACTION, it's Bika-Codrington by a MILE.... REED
But The Gatti-Ward Trilogy was SEVERAL YEARS PRIOR to Gatti-Floyd... N the Future, Just Say "NO" to Emoticon OVERUSAGE...It DOESN'T Make your Posts Any Funnier... REED:nono:
Yeah, Gatti was wasted fully after the Ward trilogy...and years later he STILL got a HBO date with Floyd, cos Floyd needed him to break into 147...keep em coming. And your ass isn't in a position to lecture people about "overusage"...or maybe it is!!!
Vazquez-Marquez II for me, and quite honestly, I don't see any other fight on this year's remaining schedule surpassing it. Pavlik-Taylor is a close-runner up, and Bika-Codrington warrants consideration as well. A separate nod for Most Underrated Action Fight(s) of the year to D. Diaz-Morales, and the Sakata-Roberto Vasquez rematch.
Uuuuuh, Floyd & Gatti Fought @ 140:laughing:     Just Fuuuuurther EVIDENCE That U DON'T Know what the Fuck U're Talking about... Keep em Coming... REED
At least Mosley and Cotto isn't on your list. No way that was a FOTY. It was a good intriguing battle, with plenty of vim and vigor, but no more than that.
Damn. Floyds didn't even step up to 147 at that point?? What was all the hub-bub about then?? Keep em coming, bait-taker!!
