I want to congratulate David Leeder a/k/a Buddy Rydell, Nobleart, Punk and TKO on becoming the new owners of FightBeat.com I have accepted their offer and we are now ready to finalize the details of transfer and payment. I want to thank everyone for the help and support they provided me. Without Reed, Karl, Jake, Joe, and Andrew Brown, and many other supporters of the site who helped navigate FightBeat.com to the top of the boxing media world. I hope we will all lend the new owners the support, whatever way is necessary, to rebuild the site and once again gain world-wide recognition. They have promissed to maintain the site and build on what has already be established. Again, thanks everyone. As of today I have officially stepped down as the leader of the site, they new owners will have my full cooperation during the transition period, and I look forward to being a member, and contributor to the FightBeat commnity. Regards, Carlos "Cupey" Guzman
Ok, Noble, TKO, Punk, I'll be watching throughout the day tomorrow and I'll be corresponding with Cupey. We'll do what we can as soon as we can. I'll be up a bit longer if anyone wants to email me. That or just add me on Facebook and we can chat.
The first change I'd like to see happen is the removal of the term blocking when you try to post *********. In other words the word fight & hype put together.
Changes are forthcoming, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself. I gotta hear from TKO, Punk, and Noble in my email account because we have to figure out logistics.
there is an admin panel at the bottom of the forum. Login to the admin panel and look on the left side for the search for users option. Cupey
I am glad this is still going to be here. I remember when we all left Secondsout back in the day and had to start over.
Well, due to costs there will probably be a server change. But other than that I think everything will remain alive. It will be a learning process because I have to write down how to do everything and the little hiccups that come with the system. But hopefully once everything is written down it will be smoother and updates much quicker. Cupey
Hell no I don't work for them. My allegiance is to this forum first and foremost. Other than their home page news I may visit their forums only a couple times a month when it crosses my mind or this site and BF is too slow. You can check it out if you want, my handle over there is Vodoo since the Lb handle was already taken. The only reason I keep bringing it up is because whenever I want to type out that word having it blocked just annoys me.
Is there going to be a loss of threads? You've been pretty good about not doing that the last couple years. If it's going to happen I'd like a heads up first so I can take the time to save some of my posts.
Streetfighter, you don't post that often, but it's nice to know you're still about and still reading. Damn, I haven't talked to you in ages. Hopefully some of the other golden oldies come back and post!
Well I'm just saying that nobleart wants to move. I don't believe there will be because I pretty much have it down to a science. So I'm fairly confident there will be no issues during the move. However, I would probably wait another month so people get to know who you guys are and will resist the urge to run elsewhere. What I mean is that to make the change the forum will have to be available for read only, but not new posts. Cupey
I come around for every big fight and post once or twice fight night. When I started on secondsout and then here, I was pretty young and had a job that I could sit on the internet and post all day long, now it's 10 years later, I am 35 and have a job where I am always busy. I remember I used to go meet Reed and watch fights at a local bar here probably 7 or 8 years ago.
Excellent. I really didn't want this site to be sold to some arsehole, or just close down, I love this place. I'd also like to say, I had previously expressed interest in being a joint owner/runner etc of this place, and I know people know I would be a useful contributor. I would just like to say the reason I didn't chime in this time, is I'm simply too busy right now. To make that kind of commitment, and put in the effort required. Not even busy socially, just work, I'm working almost constantly.
If TKO used a portion of that 100 I sent him for losing the EURO2008 bet to buy this site, it kind of makes me part owner as well. :hammert:
Andrew, I don't remember the particulars, but you've got a clean slate with me. I don't want to ban people. In fact, I think mini-vacations are a great idea because people can come back afterwards. I've learned from a number of my mistakes at SecondsOut. I was too stringent. Actually I think Steve_Dave and Godfather have a lot of great ideas about moderating.
