FightBeat has heard the cry of our fans to offer a TV schedule for boxing events. Well the wait is over.

FightBeat.com in cooperation with BoxSCH is proud to announce that it has secured an EXCLUSIVE license to incorporate what we consider the easiest boxing schedule to use, with links to HBO, Showtime, ESPN, and a full schedule of boxing events.

    THE FIGHT SCHEDULE http://schedule.fightbeat.com

We will have a tie in to the home page complete this week.

Thanks everyone for the wait, and we look forward to continuing to improve FightBeat and working with our new partner to develop the schedule Starting January 2007 the schedule will also include MMA events.

    Regards,

    Carlos Guzman

Thanks bro. I was never satisfied with how everyone else was handling the schedule and when I found someone who got it right I gave him a call. He's latino, so we knew we had to work together to make this happen. I think it's another step towards competiting with the big boys.

damn hahahaha. When I used to program, I knew a guy name Moe who was 70 and always found a way to fuckup my programs. So I used to tell people it's "Moe" proof. Now its "Reed" proof.

The set up isn't without hope and there's plenty to like, but

it's pretty worthless as it is.

There aren't channels listed and it's supposed to be a 'tv boxing schedule'.

You don't have any of the odd ball fight cards listed that get replayed on MSG, SUN, MASN, and the other various minor sports channels.

You don't have Fox Sports Espanol.

    You don't have TyC.

You don't have Telemundo (maybe you do?).

And then you list some fights that aren't even going to be televised, at least to my knowledge.

What you do have (right now) is what any dipshit with a Sunday newspaper can find on the weekly schedule. yee haw.

In other words, there's nothing here that remotely challenges Marty's schedule. The niche that is available is letting fans know what is available to watch on tv, not what is upcoming live and on the main channels. Marty's schedule just does too good of a job with that, already.

Who cares what another website provides, though? The idea is to provide as much as possible at your site, to prevent readers from visiting other sites. This is a step in the right direction.

It's fine to say that it needs improving, but to say that the same is already offered at MaxBoxing? So what. For those who mainly visit this site, they can now see what fights are coming up without having to visit another site.

can you see this dude is a maxboxing zealot who's numbers continue to decline. Max boxing has more spies than the natzies. It will be easy to do soemthing batter than that schedule at Max because their information is in a flat file, we are in a database. We already ahve all of the information on there but just haven't released it all. That dude marty's schedule is a joke.

Very slick cupey. The font is too small but aside from that, very well done. However I don't see a link on the front page? Where is the average person going to find the schedule?

Why wouldn't you care about what another site provides, particularly when it is so well done as it is?

Hey, I've got a great idea. Let's start keeping track of results from around the world for Fightbeat. That will keep everyone here instead of jumping to boxrec.

Everyone here by choice is a fight fan first, not a fightbeat fan. Boxrec, Marty's schedule, a fight news source...all of that shit is one click away...just like Fightbeat's boxing schedule.

If the goal is to keep everyone here at Fightbeat, more power to the administrators, but to dismiss Marty's schedule as 'a joke' is just fucking retarded. It does what it does extremely well, imo, and that is far better than this first Fightbeat attempt the OP refers to.

As far as mE being a Maxboxing spy or zealot, gimme a fucking break. Even if I am, it doesn't have anything to do with the points I've brought up. And am I? Good luck with that, Cupe.

alright, you can dedicate the second part of your post to Cupey, or any other FB staffer, because I didn't say anything about Marty's schedule being a joke, or you being a MB spy.

I like Marty, he's been around the game a long time, and yes he does a very good job with his schedule.

So here's my point: Marty updates his schedule not giving a flying fuck about the schedules posted here, on FightNews, BoxingScene, BoxRec, TV Guide, DirecTV, the dentists office or anywhere else that might have a schedule. Marty has his schedule and nobody else's.

    FightBeat should do the same.

All that said - how is Marty's schedule far better than Cupey's?

His schedule lacks all of the bells and whistles you bitched about earlier - what fights will re-run on MSG, FoxSports, and what not.

I've never seen any of those networks listed on his schedule. Especially re-runs.

His schedule starts at the top and scrolls all the way down. Cupey's schedule isolates fights televised on major stateside network - HBO one section, Showtime another, etc. You also have the option to view all at the same time ("Extended Schedule" tab).

The way you sell it, Cupey should just scrap the idea altogether just because one appears everywhere else. For that, why the fuck does Newsday exist - LI and NYC editions, no less - when NY Daily News is already reporting most of the same stuff?

He just started it. Of course it needs improvements. I mean damn, did Marty's schedule look the way it does since the first day he started?

    Sheesh.

You tell'em Jake. These guys are just haters who fear FightBeat because we are on the climb. Most other websites are in decline.

This dude comes on here shitting on the schedule and basically telling us to give up. Fuck him. By next year Marty will be packing his bags hahahahahhaa. I personally don't know Marty, but I know he's working hard and doing a good job. I wish him well.

nah marty is the schedule authority. a lot of sites in the past used to copy and paste his schedule as part of their own, or offer a link to his schedule. it was to the point where he had to post the disclaimer you now see atop his schedule.

He also does the "TV Fights of the Month" section for The Ring magazine.

One thing I will say, though - you should try to include international broadcasts. My biggest beef with most schedules is that they're designed with the mindset that Americans are the only ones that watch TV. For example, those with Canal+ would be pleased to know that they can watch Mormeck-Haye this weekend.

The 2nd part was directed at Cupey, of course. I should have made it more clear.

It's better because it is (far) easier to read, lists far more fights, indicates which fights are 'newly put up' and identifies which channel and which fights are supposed to be televised on that channel. I like that he indicates which titles are up for grabs and puts Ring rankings in. I like that he puts the better record guy first.

Having a specific channel to see their upcoming fights is, for mE, pretty worthless since I can find out that information by just looking on the main schedule.

The bells and whistles are the things I think could be improved about his schedule. One thing that Fightbeat's schedule does do better is that it includes KO's on the records, but that's only a small thing.

I guess my main point is that if it isn't 'noticeably' better than Marty's schedule, it's not going to steal any visitors and if it isn't substantially equal, it's not even going to retain current visitors when it comes to that service.

you could be right on the last part. But even as mentioned earlier in the thread (though it was Cupey, who probably doesn't even know there's a fight in NYC this weekend  ), you say the name "Marty" and most will say "Who?" If you say MaxSchedule, perhaps it's a different story. But that said, their schedule isn't the site's centerpiece. I;m sure those who regularly visit Max check the schedule, but I know of very few who solely go there, or even go their first, just to see what fights are coming up. (you being on that very short list  )

Honestly, if I go to Max, the schedule section is probably the last thing on the page that I check. The same could very well be said for most sites I visit, with the exception of BoxRec.
