We had guys like Tyson and Foreman who could make their opponents scared. What about the other way around? Name me fighters who never seemed to be concerned or even nervous no matter who they were facing. And btw. safety-first fighting is not the same as being scared.

First guy I thought of is Larry Holmes. He seemed so confident about that no matter who he face, he could take care of them

Tarver - first guy to come along who didn't talk about RJJ like he was a God, and that includes virtually all of RJJ's former opponents who seemed to lose the fight before it even started.

    Toney

    McCallum

Am I the only one who finds it funny that you list two guys Jones beat after that blurb on Tarver?

Salvador Sanchez (admittedly never put to the test against a really intimidating guy, but Id bet my balls it wouldnt even raise his heart beat)
    Johnny Tapia

James Toney & Marvin Hagler are the most obvious examples. Those guys are just obstinate, embattled bastards, nobody would intimidate them.

:boohoo: Tarver talks a good game BEFORE the fight, DURING the fight, he was all "good sportsman with RJJ" and after the fight he was thankful and kissing his ass.

Tarver did the same thing in the Hopkins fight and then fought like a bitch.

Speaking of Hopkins, he's my choice for this thread.

LOL! Hopkins? Did you see how scared this dude fought against Joe Calzaghe and in the Jermaine Taylor rematch? Hopkins was a f*cking bitch in BOTH those matches. Had no backbone. And he's a pussy for faking a low blow against Calzaghe.

He was crapping himself in the Vernon rematch. Didn't even want to try to fight at all.

Agreed,.. he's an overrated piece of shit, he fights like an amatuer boxer who's got a 2 point lead with 30 seconds to go, everyone has got to come to him in order to make the fight, even if the opponent is half his size,..

I know it's not boxing... but... if we are talking about fighters there is no one I have seen look less concerned about the guy across from him than Fedor.

I'm guessing your referring to Toney and McCallum being listed as fearless and Double L saying that ALL of Roy's opponents except for Tarver had no fear:lol:

Disagreed about Tyson. He was terrified against Lewis and often clearly insecure

I think Ali was nervous at least against Liston and Foreman. He didn't duck anyone but I thought he often hid his fear behind the showmanship. The little fear made him put up great performances too. Paz and Cobb too were probably more lunatics than actually fearless. Otherwise a very good list

Ali admitted years later he wanted to quit in the Liston fight because he was so damn scared.

Good point and you may very well be right. But here's an interesting paradox...

Assuming you are correct and Ali was afraid and was hiding it and Larry Holmes feared no one, it seems odd that Ali fought everyone who mattered (and some of them more than once) from the time he beat Liston until he retired (and even after that when he faced Holmes) and Holmes didn't do that.
