Ok, I don't know how else to word this title. What I mean is, what fighter would you pick over some or many top class fighters in their divisions due to style / attribute advantage - people they 'shouldn't' win against. Bonus for very unpopular or peculiar picks with good reasoning included. I personally feel Hozumi Hasegawa could beat quite a few top class Bantams - maybe even some decent feathers - due to his 'dark horse' southpaw style and attributes, like his high speed and movement and workrate. He'd do very well against fighters with a light or average punch imo. Your picks?
I'll nominate another bantamweight - Bernardo Pinango's style would give a lot of better fighters trouble.
Since bantam was the first division mentioned... Medel obviously, little explanation needed. Jibaro Perez with his freakish height and offensive range is a tough proposition imo for the likes of Rose, Chandler, Chucho, Caraballo, Pinder, Lora obviously etc. Maybe an off key version of Olivares even. Less so vs the elite harder hitting boxer punchers and swarmers. Jofre, Brown, Fenech, Zarate, McGovern and the like. Payakaroon at the same weight class and 122 capable of beating anyone in the right small window of time or having turned pro earlier. Canizales another with the tools to beat anyone if not the mindset. Khaokor!
Kenny Lane at 135/140 against most fighters, the same for Eddie Perkins. Freddie Dawson at lightweight going head on with Williams and running him hard without resorting to sticking and moving says a lot to me. Terrific fighter. Ibarra at flyweight vs the lighter hitting greats or more patient, well-rounded types.
