steve_dave was talking about how Cotto's schedule is locked up for the next two fights. Is this true? What would the fights be?

Did Mayweather actually say he would never work with Arum again? Is there a quote?

Is there any other reasonable big money fight for Mayweather in the next year?

Cotto is lined up to fight Josh Clottey in March on the same show as Margarito/Jose Luis Castillo. If they both win, which they should, it looks like Cotto/Margarito in NYC before the parade.

I doubt you'll find any Mayweather quote beyond saying he'll fight for anyone if the money is right.

Cotto and his people don't want any part of Mayweather...not the other way around.

 Somehow Mayweather has found a way to avoid Mosley, Cotto, Margarita, Williams...to fight little midget that what he called him Ricky Hatton...

I know its about the MONEY$$$$ but will a fight against Cotto or Mosley make less money than a fight against Hatton? With all the backing..promotion done by HBO...no..

    haha! Mayweather didn't avoid shit.

    I'll recap it for you.

When Floyd was at 140lbs, Judah was the undisputed Welterweight champion and so Floyd had his heart set on that Matchup.

Judah lost to Baldomir, but most people saw it as a bit of a fluke and Zab was still considered the bigger threat (which he was).

Since Zab still had a title by way of politics...and that was a more appealing fight to the fans..Floyd took it. Zab was still teh biggest name in that division at the time.

    So what happens next?

Detractors claim that Floyd isn't a champ until he beats Baldomir (no one was talking Margarito, or Cotto, or Williams at the time)...they were talking BALDOMIR!!

So what does Floyd do? He fights Baldomir and wins easily.

Now....the entire purpose fr Floyd moving up to these divisions was to get the eventual big money figth with De La Hoya (who Williams, Cotto AND Margarito would have galdly done for teh fame and money that comes with it...make no mistake). De La Hoya was STILl the cashcow at the time.

Floyd risks everything and goes even HIGHER in weight to get that fight. He wins and gets another title. De La Hoya after destroying Mayorga was still a more formidable oppeont than anyone else at 147lbs (with teh possibel exception of Mosley...who wasn't a factor at the time).

Floyd retires and is called out by Ricky Hatton....who had more star power and higher P4P ranking that Cotto, Williams and Margarito combined...based on his victories over Castillo and Tszyu...and is undefeated.

    Floyd fights him.

When did he have time to squeeze in those other guys?

NOW...he can fight Cotto...and if he continues to fight, and avoids Cotto...only NOW would you have a point.

    Until then..you have none!

    The Sly One has Spoken!!!

Bullshit nobody was calling for Mayweather vs. Bumdomir..maybe Double L but thats it...Most folks were demanding Margarita vs. Mayweather..since Margarita was calling him for months....Margarita and Arum offer Mayweather a few million..but nah Mayweather WANTED A CHALLENGE :rolleyes:so he took on Bumdomir...

Cotto vs. Mayweather @ MSG would've been just as big IF NOT bigger than Mayweather vs. Hatton......Cotto vs. Mosley did what? 400K-500K without all the hype of 24/7...and hbo...how many ppv has ricky hatton been involved other than last Saturdays..?

Mayweather will go sit around for a few months...and hope that Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, and William eliminate each other out of the picture...

the same way he was PRAYING that Cory Spinks would beat Jermain Taylor and win the middleweight championship so he could fight Cory for the undisputed middleweight championship...

Zab mighta been the champ at Welterweight but he was never consider the biggest threat in that division....Margarita was the biggest threat in that division....but somehow MAYWEATHER never heard Margarito calling him out....EASY FIGHT..EASY FIGHT...FOR MAYWEATHER..EASY 8 MILLION $$$..EACH MONEY..

thats why he was in Vegas for the fight...cause really isn't interested...but Mayweather should not worry...Cotto will do his job for him...and fight Margarita and Williams in the near future...

while Mayweather waits...and hopes that Juan Diaz popularity go sky high...or that Pacquiao moves to 135 and look half decent...

no shame...he just can call himself the best of all time....he can't/shouln't even call himself the best Welterweight at the moment..he hasn't had a fight at Welter vs. a real welter since fighting Bumdomir...

Cotto and Williams have better wins at welter than Pretty Boy..

"Right now a fight with De la Hoya is more marketable than one with Mayweather," said Evangelista, "even though De la Hoya lost to Mayweather in his last fight and Mayweather won last night against Hatton, De La Hoya remains the most marketable....the other names that have been mentioned to fight with Miguel do not compare economically with a fight with De la Hoya." - Cotto's team

yet they also mention Clottey as a possible opponent...they unlike Mayweather are not starving for a fight against DLH..it will make 'em alot of money..but if it doesn't happen..it doesn't happen...

and DLH is talking crazy...fighting Hatton...even Manny Pacquiao...but it's good for Mayweather to take 1 or 2 years off so he can spend some of that money....spend it all away...come back hungry...

Delahoya will not fight cotto. he would have to split profits with arum on the promotion. it would be a physically taxing fight. won't happen.

hbo will push for cotto to fight mayweather. it may not happen till the fall because arum (and probably cotto) like fighting in june in nyc. hopefully margarito doesn't spoil the big 1.

    What!?

So it's ok because they said they might fight the great Clottey if DLH doesn't want the fight even if they're saying at the same time they are not looking for a Mayweather fight?

They didn't say they were NOT looking for a Mayweather fight..they said a fight against DLH would make Cotto more money.....but I said DLH has been talking crazy...talking about fighting Pacquiao....and still maybe wanting to fight Hatton..even after he was KO'ed by Mayweather...

Clottey..Margarita..DLH..Mayweather they are all in the pic..but i guess we have to X-out Mayweather he is going to retire.....and DO what again? Clotty in March...Margarito in June.......and whoever isn't afraid in September....:dunno:

Dude.. I know you love Cotto but this is bitchy as hell... I mean, you go all the way to Las Vegas to see a huge fight between two likely rivals, one wins confirming his status as the best fighter in the world, the top challenge and Cotto has 0 to say? Oh yeah, not only that, 2 days later you have Cotto's team saying:

"Right now a fight with De la Hoya is more marketable than one with Mayweather," said Evangelista, "even though De la Hoya lost to Mayweather in his last fight and Mayweather won last night against Hatton, De La Hoya remains the most marketable....the other names that have been mentioned to fight with Miguel do not compare economically with a fight with De la Hoya."

That's basically saying "Floyd damn sure didn't look old enough for us to throw Miguel with. We'll go with DLH or Clottey or let's see who else.

i'll believe cotto fights clottey when they're actually in the ring. arum isn't that naive.

fighting margarito isn't the wisest decision either for cotto. arum probably would like it since he'll get the msg gate and his ppv cut. cotto may or may not beat margarito but he'll leave something in the ring that night either way.

Cotto is doing what Mayweather would never dare do...CLEAN OUT a division....one motherfucker at a time...:clap: Now really who was the more dangerous opponent...Shane Mosley..or Ricky Hatton..:dunno:..yeah Hatton had the 0..but soo what?

Hatton was more likely to beat Mayweather than Mosley. De La Hoya was more likely to beat Mayweather than Mosley.

really? base on Mosley beating prime DLH twice...?..or Hatton barely surviving the fight against Collazo....? the same Collazo that was dominated by Mosley...:dunno:

..only Mayweather groupies and the Brits though Hatton was a tougher opponent for Mayweather.. than Cotto...Margarito or Mosley...williams..

I don't care who cotto fights as long as it's not Clottey. That fight would be a step back. It wouldn't do anything for his carreer right now.

I don't want another double feature with Margarito to step up a potential fight between them like last December. Fuck all that.

I rather see Cotto fight Oscar in May and hopefully he can put a stamp on it by stopping Oscar. something nobody has done. (no I don't count the hopkins liver shot" :nono:

    Styles!

Mosley is a poor man's Mayweather and Floyd does basically everything Shane does only better. Shane's only chance against Floyd is to catch him with a good bodyshot and hope to keep him down.

Hatton, however, could have conceivably outworked and outhustled Floyd to a decision. OLD Shane was't doing any such thing.

Maybe, but it's not the point. I'm tired of these prelim matches. Kind of curious how so many times these "mandatory" fights can happen when HBO has a date open.

Cotto can fight Margarito now, what the hell is the point of fighting Clottey first? Oh noooo, he'll be stripped of a trinket!

Mosley's not a poor mans Floyd. When's the last time you seen Mosley get on his bicycle and run for rounds at a time? Or see Floyd sit in the pocket and slug with guys who are dangerous punchers?

These guys are 2 totally different fighters who bring different styles to the table while at the same time having similar talents.

Don't make up ridicuous statements just because Illumi is handing you your ass.

Sorry - fact is Floyd was offered $8MM to fight Margarito and declined...after they called his bluff and offered him the money.

I am not going to say he is "ducking" or whatever ridiculous non-sense....but the fact is he didn't take the fight.

    Facts are facts.

    Peace.
