    He deserves a break.
Being a savior can be exhausting I'd imagine.
Having saved boxing, maybe he can now focus his attention elsewhere.

He has temporarily retired before though, hasn't he?
    Between 6/08-7/09 wasn't it?, 6 months after beating Hatton @ W.W?

Remember?- around the time -Cotto was undefeated, WIlliams was @147, & Marg was looking like a monster.

Then he came back (first fight back 2yrs later against a guy coming up in weight 12pnds) when Cotto had been beaten down, Williams was no longer @ W.W? & Marg was out of the picture)

I thought Floyd's confidence would be at an all-time high coming off the Mosley win. I figured he'd believe he could destroy anybody right now. Where's this extended break BS talk coming from all of a sudden???? :dunno:
Why doesn't he just fight Pacman, bank an easy $50 million and then retire?

  12. Quo Vadimus

    Quo Vadimus Guest

For the record I think this is bullshit. he's not retiring. This is the same shit Pac is pulling. The whole "I'll say I'm going to retire after my next fight, so they'll be stressed and cave in to my demands or risk never fighting me"

It's a publicity move, is all.

At this point, I figure make the fight, don't make the fight, I don't care. Just stop with the sanctimonious bullshit.

Floyd's not out to better the sport, and anyone without Floyd/GBP Goggles on know it. This isn't about cleaning up the sport, it's about fucking with Manny. It's about destroying Manny anyway you can. The reasons are clear.

    1. Manny has defeated MANY Golden Boy fighters, including DLH.
    2. Manny went back on signing with Golden Boy and went to Bob Arum
    3. Manny humiliated Hatton who was trained by Floyd Sr.
    4. When Floyd "retired" the previous time, everyone started saying Manny was P4P King above Floyd, which obviously pissed him off.

Why else would he announce his "comeback" fight against Marquez, on the night of the Manny/Hatton fight?

Everything he's done since coming back has been aimed at knocking Manny. EVERYTHING including the comeback.

And on the other side, Manny has been an idiot as well. He shouldn't have had to take any tests at all, because Floyd shouldn't be calling the shots. Unfortunately he apparantly has that power, and all of Manny's excuses cause doubt. First it's needles, then blood, then this, then that.

If you don't wanna kowtow to Floyd, fine. Tell Floyd to fuck himself and have a nice day, but don't go back and forth. Pick a side and stick with it.

And for all the "Floyd shouldn't be asking for things outside the boundaries of NSAC", how about telling Manny that asking for 10 million dollars per pound over isn't in the NSAC guidelines either. It's supposed to be like 10% of your purse. NOT 10 million per pound over.

It was a "Fuck with Floyd" move, and that's fine. Problem is Floyd called your bluff and then raised you with the blood tests, leaving Manny stuttering and stammering.

Both of them are playing games with each other. Neither one is scared of the other one, it's all an ego thing.

As I said, make the fight, don't make the fight, I don't give a shit. Just stop thinking you're better than you are, and stop feeling you're more important than you are.

You're a man who beats another man in the face with his hands. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well if the Pacquaio fight isn't happening, there is nothing else to fight for really. If he does come back in the future, then we'll see him KO'd like nearly every other 35 year old fighter who dominated in their prime.

A lot of people thought that last time. To be honest I still don't think Floyd really wants to fight Pacquiao. If he did, why not just drop the demands and fight the guy already? Also, since when did Floyd care that someone didn't want to fight him? If he couldn't make a fight he'd usually just move on and fight someone else. So with that in mind I don't think this is a ploy, I think he's really going to take some time off. I think it's only going to be a year though.

My God Pac and Floyd both fucking suck. By this point I seriously dislike them both intensely and it's very rare for me to dislike fighters (or anyone frankly).

the kid's dying - floyd just doesn't want him to feel like he's going to miss something. imagine if you were told that floyd and pac would fight in december but you've only got three months to live? it'd be incredibly frustrating. the kid would probably beg floyd to bring the fight forward. what celebrities say off-camera to terminally ill people should be taken with a pinch of salt.

    Of course.
PBF's actually looking out for the kid's psychological welfare.

Pacquaio fights in November, announces his retirement.

Mid 2012, Mayweather asks around his people, "is Pacquaio really retired?" yeah he is gone.

    Mayweather announces miraculous return.

Also this retirement talk has nothing to do with Pacquaio receiving his FIGHTER of the decade award last night.

Ploy or no ploy.... these bullshit games that both are playin are hurtin the sport. Its hard to be a Mayweather fan nowadays. He's a brilliant fighter, but its just impossible not to be annoyed with this prick.

Floyd knows that Manny just won an election in his country and that if he doesn't fight him this year,is not going to happen within the next three to four years. Floyd is a calculating smart COWARD who is avoiding this fight at all costs.

We will see Manny's laat fight either against Margarito or in a rematch with Cotto. And if that rematch happens...Cotto should NOT concede to fight below his current weight like he did the last time. Let Manny beat a fullfledged superwelterweight this time.
