I expect it to happen in May 2011. I expect the first 5 rounds to be very close then Floyd to find a place for that right hand counter and to take over. Heard it here first, Irish.opcorn:
I think Floyd is a better boxer than Manny Pac ever was. I think Floyd is waiting for Manny to ship a beating in a fight he wins, then make the fight. Floyd TKO 11
:jaw: When Neil said something similar I just said to myself "Neil is a troll, so ignore it". But now you say it..and I know that you're being serious. Tell me...how could Pacquiao who couldn't stop Marquez in two tries, and took 11 rounds to stop Barrera the first time and went the distance the second time and took 12 rounds to stop the vulnerable Cotto...going to stop elusive dependable chinned Floyd in 5 rounds? Please tell me....
Draw. If this goes full 12 and it's fairly even (Pac attacks early then slows down late, Floyd defensive throughout), they'll make it a draw and try to sell a rematch for even more money. Floyd fans will mostly have Floyd 7-5 on their scorecards and will complain a lot on the forums with Pac fans for the next 6 months leading to the rematch.
Probably more like Floyd will win by about 3 points on the cards, it'll be be wider in reality, more like 5-6 points+, but Pac will get rewarded for flurries that don't land but the crowd go nuts for. You'll say for years afterwards that Pac won.opcorn:
Why would you expect to happen ever? The only reasonable expectation for this fight, given what we know, is that it will never happen.
Just a hunch, mate. Floyd is a pure, contrarian egotist. He just wanted to turn it down to show he could. He or his handlers probably had some rationale beyond that but I think that's the real dynamic here. He'll sign it on his timetable, only. He's THAT petty and self absorbed. Obviously I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect this'll happen in May 2011 if Pac gets by Tony (retarded matchmaking).
I like Mayweather by decision... I think Pac lands early, might even hurt him pretty good... but Mayweather is a guy who makes good adjustments and I really like his quick lead right hand against Pac-Man... Manny has always had trouble with a good right hand (like most southpaws) and Floyd has one fo the quickest... it may not be all that heavy, but he lands it so often and clean that guys get worn out eventually, kinda like Salvador Sanchez Pacquiao is a gamer for sure and you know he'll never stop pressing and trying to get Floyd, but I think Mayweather is just slick enough and just tough enough to get past that, land his right consistently and walk away with a well-deserved decision, 115-113, 116-112 type, in a real good contrast-of-styles fight
Pac by stoppage. It's very, very close to call IMHO which is what makes it such a mouthwatering prospect (and why so many people are so disgusted that it isn't happening) but two things stand out for me which make me side with Manny. Firstly, he's a lefty and about the only fighters who have caused Mayweather any discernable bother are lefties. Secondly, and much more importantly, Manny is super fast of both hand and foot. Mayweather has been able to dominate opponents because he has almost always (I suppose Zab might be an exception here) been much faster than the men he faced and he wisely utilizes this to great advantage. There is nothing and no-one gonna convince me that Floyd is faster than Pacquiao, though, and that for me would be crucial, because without his speed advantage you take away a hell of a lot of Mayweather's best attributes and, moreover, it means that Manny will have opportunities, and plenty of them, to land that straight right hand. When he starts landing it, you can forget about Floyd's 'dependable' chin. He'll get stopped. MTF
Floyd by late Ko/wide decision. Floyd would take this fight and it wouldn't be close. A complete tanning.
Probably. Then again all the Floyd nutlickers said he'd make DLH look like the stupidest dumbest clumsiest SOB when they fight. Instead, Floyd ended up looking like like a scared little bitch for the most part and was lucky to win that fight.:: His old man actually had DLH winning it. Overall a boring piece of sh*t fight anyway and forgettable. DLH in his prime would've eaten Floyd up. Floyd was lucky to fight an inactive no-stamina money-grabbing version of Oscar who basically gave 2 sh*ts if he won or not that night, just as long as he got his money.
*sigh* That was the first and only time I predicted a fight on these boards based on what I wanted to happen as opposed to what I thought would happen. I made that very clear in the prediction thread in the very post I made the prediction. As I have explained to you already. Five hundred times. MTF
I agree prime Oscar gives him a tougher fight but the truth is Floyd won that fight going away and he did make Oscar look clumsy.
I thought Oscar was doing well, by being cagey and catching the eye with mostly ineffective flurries in the first couple of rds but rather than MW making any major adjustments, Oscar lost his discipline, became a bit more sloppy, stopped throwing the jab and handed MW the initiative to do what he does well
