Two undefeated Welterweight titlists going at it. Floyd's the true (Linear) Welterweight champion and after this fight Cotto is the #1 contender.

Floyd will win, without a doubt, but I think it'll be a very good fight.

I don't think Cotto is the #1 contender @ 147. It's hard to argue Cotto and forget Margarito, even if I'm not a fan of Toni...the guy deserves a shot. Mayweather can wait, IMO. He chose to leave.

Cotto will give him a better fight than Bumlomir, thats for sure. Now does he win? Thats another story. I once said that Floyd-Cotto would be replay for Hopkins-Tito, and I take that back. I slept on Cotto. I think he'd account himself well against Floyd, but overall Floyd is still just too good.

IF Marga gets by Williams, he aint getting past Cotto. Miguel will turn Margarito's face into somethin terrible!

Yeah it'll be more like Floyd-Castillo 2: somewhat competitive, but the decision never in doubt.

I think Floyd wins too, but I remarked earlier @ the fight to Andrew, that he makes the same mistake all fighters make against Cotto; he lays in the pocket. Cotto WILL land plenty on Mayweather and I don't see it all that out of the realm of possibility that he takes Floyd.

Mayweather isn't really offensive enough to keep Miguel honest. I wouldn't mind seeing it in a year or so.

I agree, but at the same time; I also think he's due his chance. Even if its a formality in most fans mind, that doesn't mean that the fight shouldn't happen. Margarito has earned the right to have his chance, IMO.

Yes he would. Its time to be real about Floyd in that he doesnt really throw combos when pressured. He pot shots, and moves, which would give Cotto an oppertunity to outwork in some rounds. Also dont sleep on Miguel's ability to cut the ring. Not saying he'd win, I'd still favor Floyd big, but it wouldnt be a white wash either.

No he wont. Only body shots will land with any frequency on Floyd...and that's IF Floyd elects to fight him close. My feeling is that Floyd will fight Cotto the way he fought Baldomir, in which case...Cotto hardly lands anything.

I never said he didnt. I hope he does get his chance too. I cant wait for Cotto to beat his ass and silence him & his annoying groupies.

I'll like to see it....Cotto won't be discourage by 1-2 punches Mayweather throws at a time now a days. I still favor Mayweather.....it would be alot better than Mayweather vs. Bumdomir fight....and as close as his fight vs. Castillo I...

Am I the only Floyd fan who doesnt think he's invincible? I mean, sure he shut out Baldomir, but Baldomir is a BUM, who woulda never been there in the first place if Zab was born with a working brain. Since when does Floyd whitewash pressure fighters like that? Cotto is a better pressure fighter than Castillo, and Floyd never dominated him. Plus lets be honest here, Floyd cant be on point forever. Its not like he's 24-25 years old anymore, he's 30. Any fight now, he could diminish. If the fight he becomes older in is against Cotto, he's in trouble.

cotto is dirt slow and easy to turn, zab could have turned him all night, he just walked backwards instead of side to side movement where he could have got away from him, i honestly think cotto would get stopped by floyd, his defense is weak

I see it basically the same way. Cotto is not only the BEST fighter Mayweather has ever fought, the fight would take place after Mayweather's prime. Floyd @ the same guy who blanked Corrales @ 130, with offense. He seems to fight not-to-lose at these higher weights. I'm not sure you can do that with a guy like Cotto and be smiling @ fights end.

A fight that was over 6 years ago at Floyd's prime weight of 130. This fight would be at 147 where Cotto is more natural at the weight than Floyd, not to mention Cotto & Corrales are nothing alike. Chico had cement for feet, and was more a plodder when faced with movers. Cotto does a MUCH better job handling boxers than Chico did.

De La Hoya, even at 34, is a better fighter than Miguel Cotto.

Yeah, why not? Floyd has been champ since he was 21, for 9 years. No fighter, no matter how talented you are, can stay the same forever. One day Floyd is gonna slip. Not saying he's gonna become shot overnight like a Donald Curry, but he can slip. And if slips against Cotto its a tough fight for him. I really cant see Floyd destroying Cotto at 147. If they had fought at 140, then yes, Floyd woulda kicked the shit outta him, but not now. Cotto has filled out and hit his prime, and Floyd has become an ultra-defensive pot shotter.

I don't agree at all but don't see the point in arguing it. You're free to think what you want.

Speakest Thou Ill Of The Dead?

Pardon the pun, but Corralles was DYING at the weight that night. Plus he had all marital shit going on and what not. Even at that he only pressured Diego when he was about beat.

Fair enough. At least you're consistent and I respect that.

    "However"

I see De La Hoya WASTING Cotto.
