Cheers:bears: It amazed me that the people that have been watching boxing for so long that pick De la Hoya to win easy ignore the fact that Oscar is 1.old 2.lost to much weight and left it in the gym which results in.... 3.no legs,no reflexes,no speed,no power exc..... But to there credit, they did give a logical reason though and I respected that...I just wish they would of respected our reasons as being logical but I guess win your a follower of the sport for as long as they are,you tend to get caught in your own web, this isn't the first time a man this small beat a bigger man and it won't be the last.
Got a give Pacquiao credit though,he looked great at welterweight,no excess weight at all on his body.It showed me that he's alot bigger than he looks having no problem carrying the weight and that Freddie Roach was right when he said Manny was having trouble making 135
Uhm.....we didn't know any of this until AFTER the fight. Stop acting like you knew all along. It's always easy to talk sh*t in hindsight. LOL! If you could've told us that DLH would've left EVERYTHING in the gym back when this fight was made, I'd have placed a few thousand dollars in bets for a Pacquiao win. Fact is, you didn't.:dunno: Nobody knew that DLH was going to look like he did tonight. And sure as hell nobody knew he'd be entering the ring as the LIGHTER man.
You need to read the predictions thread sir.I pointed those things out before the fight happened but nobody thought it would be a factor and it was!! heres the link http://www.fightbeat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29219&page=9
put it this way, many people picked Oscar to win because their reasons are more "logical" and more "obvious" it simply couldn't be ignored and there simply was no way manny could win. it would be a freak show for them, a terrible shame in the history of boxing the fight shouldn't even have been considered. now manny not only proved them wrong, he gave oscar the beating of his life. how was that? that's freakin something. to say the fight was fixed, oscar was too old, shame on those people. and poor manny.
This was an odds defying fight. The pick was easy , the outcome was a shocker. Oscar left the one weapon he needed to counter Manny's speed on the drawing board. His jab. He came into this fight , obviously thinking he was simply going to over power the smaller man and that was a huge mistake. DLH could have won this fight with a steady consistent jab to keep Manny off balance. Instead he tried to brawl with a wild cat. Hell ... while watching this fight I was struck with the feeling that Oscar has somehow forgotten the basic rules of boxing and was simply in shock that he couldn't overpower the smaller man.
I did. :hammert: It´s why I laid money on Pacquiao by KO 7 through 12. Then I got so nervous, I even bet the first six rounds. ::
Did you pick dlh vs Hopkins? Same factors. I picked Pacq, but there were plenty of reasons to pick dlh. Obvious reasons. Lots of reasons. Shit happens and following the maxim about bigger beating smaller will make you right more often than not which is why it is a maxim.
ALL Credit to Manny Pac for Winning... But Let's B HONEST, Beyond the Grave...U're a Manny Pac Sack Swinger...This WASN'T an "Intelligent" Pick on Your Part; U were Going w/Your HEART... Simple as That... REED:hammert:
Gotta love ya, Petey :: You wasted no time talking mad shit to everyone that picked Pavlik over Hopkins, yet Oscar losing last night was only because it went against logic. He didn't win with the jab alone. He wasn't ready to go hard all 12 rounds. It wasn't a body shot that won the fight for Pacquiao. How about the fact that Manny is a much better fighter? Right now and historically. The biggest question was whether or not Manny could handle the weight. To be honest, that was my only concern going in, but still talked myself into believing Oscar was too far past it to do anything about it. I thought it'd be A LOT closer (and in Oscar's favor) after eight, never minding ending at that point and without Oscar winning a round. Can't you be unconditionally wrong just once in your life? Even those of us who picked Pac are still in awe of how he did it.
Be happy he didn't came on and told us everybody at his PPV fight party thought Oscar was winning the fight... ::
That might've been the best part of last night... that among the three judges, only one out of 24 possible rounds was scored for Oscar (though I'd still love to know which one it was). Much in the same way that Floyd was rightfully way up against Hatton at the time of the stoppage.
I'm assuming it was Round 3. I called it even because oscar had the lead going into the last minute and then pacq probably edged him by the time it was over, but it was pretty close.
