Although many on this forum predicted it, it's worth noting that Marquez/Diaz II PPV was a total screw-job. Fortunately, I watched it away from home and didn't foot the bill for it, but that doesn't mean it didn't cost me anything. What happens next time there's a PPV fight? And a friend who's a more casual fan than me is no longer interested? Anyways, as many on this forum cleverly predicted, the fights on this undercard, despite Schaefer's hype and attempt to extort us into buying the event, as if to say, this is your chance to show us how much you value a good undercard - you don't buy this one you'll never get another good one - were in fact shit match-ups. Juarez was coming off a loss to W.T. What's his name. Casamayor is shot as hell, and Guerro is a highly protected punk. The middleweight fight between Jacobs and Pirog was okay, but hardly a great fight, and neither an important name. Marquez-Daiz II was a one-sided shit-show. Marquez still has it, and is stronger than ever; DIaz is shittier than he's ever been (he managed to lose to Maligianni afterall). Post fight impressions should be what drives our decisions whether or not to buy the next fight. If G, and Top Rank want to market themselves as separate and distinct presences in the sport, with no match-ups between fighters belonging to opposite promoters, than it's fair for us to judge each company separately, to say to ourselves at 7p on Sat., who's putting it on? Is it TR? Is it G? Is it Shaw? And we can apply our power that way. Let these bastards compete with eachother to the point we see something that resembles the sport of boxing !!! Here's my short summaries of the main promoters out there: Schaefer - Communist Arum - Monopolist Shaw - Emotionalist DK - Done with Goosen - Capitalist
September 18th...G ppv (Mora-Mosley) goes up against a Top Rank/Gary Shaw-Showtime card (Lopez-Marquez).
