It's amazing, but the Forrest that absolutely dominated Mosley seemed to have everything. He was tall, stiff jab, nice power and great legs. He even had some whiskers. But then came the injuries and Mayorga loses.. To be honest, I think the Forrest that beat Mosley would give any welterweight in history a tough fight. At 147 I think he easily outpoints Oscar.
Whether or not Forrest beats Oscar is up for debate...but there isn't a welterweight in the last 40 years who beats Oscar "easily".
I think Vernon OBJECTIVELY outpoints him narrowly, but I could see Oscar getting a political decision, once again. Forrest's height and reach, along with his jab and powerful straight right hand and right uppercut would really give Oscar alot to think about. Oscar is tougher, though, and he could possibly take Vernon deep and stop him. Oscar would win a controversial decision once again, in a fight that sees him outboxed for lots of parts, but his fast hands, flashy flurries, and ability to make rounds close would be enough in the judges eyes to reward Oscar with a decision that he doesn't deserve.
I'm sure this exact topic was done before and before the Oscar-Mayweather fight. Dig it up and peep my response then. That'll settle this.
Me too. For some reason I just see Vernon not being as successful against Oscar as he was with Shane. Don't know why but I just always had a feeling Oscar would beat him.
Maybe, maybe not, but if I had to pick anyone to do it it'd be Hearns based on his reach, power, and overall boxing abilities. I could never see Oscar turning into a brawler to win the way Ray did.
