I think this fight gets made next. Make sense for both guy, as Froch looks for a big fight and payday to end his career, while Stevenson would like to beat him, since it would really established as the big dog in quebec, since Froch has beaten the 2 other( distant) contenders. I like Froch, but he would get eaten alive.
Froch will lose. He's a very stiff fighter at the best of times. His only advantage is his great bravery and heart. He's got a lot of miles on the clock. That said Stevensons crappy technique means anyone can have a chance of going some rounds. Anyone who gets a bloody snout off Tony Bellew probably gets a few of the Farmers specials too, Bad fight for Carl, at the weight, at this stage of his career. The Carl who stood up to the similarly twitchy, leapy, gangly Jermaine Failure would have a chance. But even then its just a chance.
He's got a bettter chance of beating Stevenson than he would of beating Kovalev, I'll say that much. But I think both would stop Froch.
Is this even a big pay day/fight yet? The risk/reward ratio seems crumby on that one Honestly, i think froch should retire. Too many hard fights in a row. He's got a wife who'll still be smoking for a good 10 years, go make sure you can enjoy it.
I think the Kessler rematch took something outta Froch. And the Groves fight probably took MORE outta him. He's ready to be taken by Stevenson. Froch wouldn't be able to avoid Stevenson's straight left, and if Groves can drop him hard, Stevenson can as well as he's a much bigger banger than Groves. BUT, Frochy has a chance. I'd make Stevenson a solid favorite.
Fights like the last two would take something out any man. If he cant get Ward I dont see any reason to hang around, personally. Its not like he has to prove his bravery by this point, he should put his health first.
Groves deserves a rematch. That stoppage was pathetic. Tyson gave Ruddock a rematch after their first fight was stopped too quickly, as should Froch grant Groves one. If it's not a Groves rematch, then he should retire. He'll never a get a Ward rematch, and there's really no point in one. Ward beat him by a wide margin, and nothing would ever change that. I wouldn't really fault him if he didn't fight Adonis. I don't like Froch much, but he's proven a lot and gotten the absolute MOST outta the limited talent he has.
Just on an aside, Froch deserves huge credit for cleaning out 168 in Britain. Bar Calzaghe, he's beaten just about every good 168lbr in Britain.
