Rubio spent 90% of his time in the ring protecting his chin, throwing no punches, and that's why he was not knocked out. He would've acquited himself better if he actually triedto win, even if it meant getting knocked out. Instead, he's just a quiter, afraid to trade, afraid to be knocked out. bTW, his strategy was completely ill-onceived. What did he think - he was going to out-box Pavlik from the outside?:atu:He should've taken a page fromHopkins'performance and smothered Pavlik's punches and giving him angles. Instead, he spent the whole night backing straight up, getting hit by the end of Pavlik's heavyhands. Idiot.
Yeah, like if Rubio had half the athletic ability to give pavlik angles and smother him. Rubio was outclassed, end of discussion.
if an unnamed fightbeat poster (lets call him Trouble MeL) had "remained sober" he wouldve been coherent.
I agree Rubio fought like an idiot. IMHO he just should have hit Pavlik real hard on the chin and block the punches in return and he would of won. It was right there for him
his goal was to not get knocked out......that mattered more to him than winning.......in that respect he didn't fight like an idiot.......for him to win he would have to put it all on the line, he wasn't prepared to do that.....as was evident in the way the fight ended.
I agree. Boxing is all about hitting and not getting hit. Rubio didn't seem to understand that, he just needed to punch pavlik MUCH more, and get hit less in return. If he had followed that simple plan, it was a winnable fight for him.
little neil; you miss so many points; don't even try to challenge me; this is an adult giving a preschooler some benevolent advice.
I give Rubio props for lastin as long as he did. I expected him to get kod early in the fight. Had he fought more agressive it would have been a better fight while it lasted but Rubio would've been Kod for sure. Nothing in the fight showed that it was a winnable fight for Rubio even if he threw more punches.
I'd say that almost goes without saying Steve. If Rubio landed more punches, Pavlik landed less, and Rubio didn't quit on his stool, I think he would have deserved the decision. I'm still not sure why he chose to land far less punches and then stop fighting altogether after round 9.
My thing about Rubio is perhaps he should have spent more time training and creating a plan of attack rather then doing videos of him showing people how to fold oragamis. What a fuckin pussy. I'll Holla 5000
you guys are all idiots. 90% of you so-called boxing fans seem oblivious to the fact that fighting offensively, as opposed to defensively, as Rubio did, makes you much more susceptible to getting hurt and/or knocked out. But if it's more fun for you idiots to ignore convention and instead insult me, go for it! i have respect for about 2% of the posters here anyways. the remaining 98% i view as adolescent, insecure and worst of all ignorant, even as they profess to know wtf they're talking about.
Damn straight,.. Thats why the strict 'go forwards' fighters barely suceed in moving up multiple weight divisions with success, but a pot-shotting, backpeddling, backtwisting stinker like Fraud,... or infact Corey Spinks,.. could go as far up as heavyweight, and 'steal' decisions,.. then what do ignorant forum members say about that?... "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" .....:boohoo: well congratulations groupies, the referee didnt enforce any rules on your coward fighter.
