Ryan reminds me of Berlanga in how stiff he is. No upper body movement, no head movement. His offense is a wild right hand or check hook. He has no jab.
It won’t even take an elite guy to do the job. The moment Ryan makes a significant step up in competition he could get KO’d.
tagoe mostly fought to survive, but garcia has awful technique. he has fast hands and is kinda twitchy when he is able to sit back and counter. when he is forced to lead his limitations are exposed, he isnt that coordinated and thats when you see the awkward punches.
Oscar knows that Ryan sucks. Thats why he's interested in a Davis cashout. He knows its better to feed Ryan to Tank than have Ryan get upset by an average fighter.
I agree 100%....for a guy that tall he doesn't jab enough to set up Punches. . I think Tank and even Haney would beat Garcia. He looked like dogshit tonight.
15 months is a long time out. We know he's frail mentally. But give him one more fight to see if it really was ring rust. Then we can make a call on it for certain.
Ryan's problems are all upstairs. If Lopez came out vs Garcia like he did vs Kamboso, Garcia would drop his ass too. But If Lopez struck back late again, Ryan would unravel. People like Red Lopez or Indian Ortega must be just cursing that they were born in the wrong era Then again if they were young men today they'd probably be sucked into the online lunatic vortex too..
Garcia clearly has the athletic talent to be a really good fighter, but his lack of a good chin, questionable dedication and complete stupidity in the ring will always hold him back. He needs to work on his jab. Not just work on the volume, but using it properly and using it to set up the shots he wants to land. Making sure he's in range, disguising things and at the very least, landing it. I've actually never once seen an individual land as few jabs as Garcia did last night. Against such a poor opponent as well. He needs to both improve his defence, and incorporate it into his style. He also needs to keep that chin tucked. The problem is, is that he's just left the best gym in boxing for these things. Reyneso is the best guy for teaching guys how to set up and counter effectively, as well as being the guy who's shown both Canelo and Valdez how to use their head-movement effectively. Garcia better be PRAYING that Haney beats Kambosos. GKJ-Garcia will be exactly the same as the Lopez fight was, except it'll be even worse for Garcia as he's even easier to hit, falls shorter with his jab and swings even wilder than Lopez did. Kambosos would've stopped Garcia last night.
Ryan ain't even all that talented. He has good handspeed, and above average pop. Those are really his only good traits. He's lacking in most other areas. When he fails, it's not like I'll view him as some waste. He's 90% a product a social media hype.
Even if he had stuck with Reynoso,‘it’s not likely he’d have ever really improved over time. Ryan doesn’t seem to be the listening type. His lack of dedication and “mental problems” aside, just like X said he isn’t that talented… Sure he has fast hands, but his feet are slow, his upper body is STIFF (Even Danny Garcia wasn’t as stiff as Ryan), and he doesn’t seem to have a real serious grasp of the basics and fundamentals. I think what really happened in the Reynoso camp is that they saw all this and simply decided to part ways with him. They knew it would be a waste of time to continue dealing with him, and they have enough fighters in that camp that are dedicated and BETTER than Ryan. I don’t think Ryan beats either Haney or Kambosos. Haney would simply outbox him, but yeah he’s get a horrible thrashing from Kambosos. Lomachenko would school him and beat him up. Teofimo IMO knocks Ryan out mid to late rounds. Stevenson could move up right after the Valdez fight and embarrass Ryan. And I think Frank Martin right now with his few fights would also beat Ryan.
I feel sorry for him. He's obviously got it into his head that he needs to be some sort of star. Those new tattoos suggests guy with a lot to prove.... To himself. Wrong business to be in if you're low on self confidence and won't work hard/listen. Probably some sort of a serious calamity coming on his professional, then personal life. Right now he's a Panchito Bojado in the making but his downfall is going to be a bit more spectacular.
I think he's got everyone fooled. He's an over achieving YouTuber laughing all the way to the bank like the Paul brothers. Can't see why feel sorry for a guy driving a Ferraris and dating Selina Gomez.
I've never been convinced with Garcia since he got popular, the guy is just a social media star disguised as a boxer. Until he actually focuses on his boxing skills instead of IG he ain't all that. Put him in with Isaac Cruz and then we'll see how good he really is.
Or punching one of the Paul brothers or some shit. Gets in the ring vs an ancient midget and can't get his jab off. He must be very detached from reality to think he has no problems with his preparations. I think he's another Panchito Bojado or Camacho Jr or Victor Ortiz in the making. There is going to be a major correction coming down the road and it's just a question of guessing it correctly, for us. Not only is Garcia flagging technically, he's mentally distant too.
I think HE WAS a real boxer but then the METAverse took over and it changed him. It's perverse, he doesn't get the shine he wants online, si he loses interest and doesn't work AS hard as he could, which results in more social media negativity.....and so it goes.
I don’t see him in it for the long haul. I think he’s gonna try to get into Hollywood after he’s beaten for the first time. You can just TELL he’s not made for the fight game. Doesn’t have it upstairs.
