REED is an OPTIMIST @ Heart, but it's Safer to Be PESSIMISTIC, when it Comes to Boxing...This Fight WON'T Happen...

REED Would Looooooooooooove to Be Proven WRONG in this Instance, but it Ain't Happening...If the WBO were Smart, they'd Make the Negotiations VERY Public, So Whichever Side of the Equation that BALKED 1st, Could Be Rightfully SHAMED for the Boxing Wooooorld to See...

As for the GBP/Haymon/Showtime vs. Top Rank/HBO Fyewd, the SPORT of Boxing is BIGGER than ALL that Bullshit...No Matter WHAT your "Roll" in Boxing Is, the SPORT Itself is ABOVE All Else...Kudos to the WBO for CREATING a Scenario where they BOTH Need Each Other...

It's Time to Get PAST Whatever BULLSHIT Exists btwn the 2 Entities...

Why in the hell would a guy who fell short in his second pro fight and was very lackluster while doing so get another shot at the title in the third? It's back to the drawing board for Loma. His shot at history is over as of right now.

Can anyone explain how the WBO has a 1-1 guy ranked high enough to be a mandatory title challenger?

Because Lomachenko is CONNECTED & WELL PAID, Simple as That...

The Sanctioning Fee from a Lomachenko Purse will Be MORE than the Take from Some Lesser Known Fighter...It Really Is ALL about Money...

That's NOT Even the Point, mikE...

You've POSITIONED YOURSELF as an ADVOCATE for Sanctioning Bodies...Placing a 1-1 Fighter in Bout for a Vacant Title SHITS on Everything Sanctioning Bodies CLAIM to Stand For, Everything YOU SUPPORT in Defense of Them...What about the Top 10, Top 5 Guys that were Ranked PRIOR to Lomachenko Making his Debut???...

Who You'd PICK is of No Consequence, it's about Who was RANKED Higher...You Can't just Arbitrarily Anoint Lomachenko as the # 1 or # 2 Contender, Especially After LOSING his Last Fight...

in his two fights he has proven to be a more worthy challenger than russell jr. the guy lomachenko beat in his pro debut is better than anyone russell jr fought

The Same Could Be Said about Lomachenko & GGG, but Let's NOT Pretend Lomachenko DESERVES to Be Treated Accordingly....

    He DOESN'T...He's Fucking 1-1...

I'd rather have one of them face post-divorce JuanMa Lopez first

russell jr hasnt beaten anyone in the top 100 of his division. his competition has been disgraceful and it shows what a joke his career has been to this point that lomachenko fought a better opponent in his pro debut than anyone russell jr has faced to date.

2 fights into his career and lomachenko is faaaaaar more deserving of the title eliminator than the guy 5 years deep into his career with 24 fights. thats the punchline here.

Who cares that he's 1-1, he nearly beat Salido in his second fight. That's better than beating 25 bums

Not remotely. As others have said, little Gary is the joke for not having fought anyone as good as Lomachenko has, despite having 24 pro fights.

He should be embarrassed that Chenko has fought much better opponents after just 2 pro fights.

Andre Ward Followed a SIMILAR Route & he's Doing Quite Well, REED Would Say...

A Boxing Career ISN'T a Race...You Wanna Pat Lomachenko on the Back for Being 1-1, Go Ahead...REED's CHASTISING his Matchmakers & RIGHTFULLY So...It was POINTLESS to have him Facing a Guy like Salido in just his 2nd Fight...STUPID, Even...

Russell's Obviously Gotta Step it Up & he WILL @ Some Point...1nce he's Reached his 30th Bout or so, Nobody will Remember he fought Shit Opponents Up til Then, Similar to Andre Ward...

Hey REED, remember what I said in the Chenko - Salido thread, I thought it was a ridiculous fight, and picked Salido to win. But you have to admire the guy's balls for the opposition he's faced in his first 2 fights.

Sure a gentle easing into a pro career can work, but Little Gary's opposition is particularly bad for a guy with 24 pro fights, embarrassingly so really. Maybe he or his management don't have much confidence in his ability.

Nobody thought the fight would go like that, though. Expected was loma building a lead and maybe Salido's pressure catching up to him later. To me it looked like Loma could have won had he worked just a little more. He wasn't even in trouble the whole fight. To me that is more disappointing.

Yeah that is true tbh. I expected Chenko to be outboxing him clearly, but Salido's toughness, experience, and pressure would prove too much for a guy with 1 pro fight.

It was weird though, as Chenko finished stronger which I didn't expect, and for the whole fight he didn't show enough urgency, didn't do quite enough. Not sure if it was a hunger issue, or an experience issue. Perhaps he was just too fazed by a tough, tricky pressure fighter like Salido to do enough work of his own.

Russell's Managed by Al Haymon Who Doesn't PRESSURE Guys Into Tougher Fights than they Want, but Isn't Known for BABYSITTING Guys Either...

Errol Spence Fought a Tough, 16-0 African Opponent, in just his 8th or 9th pro Fight, But Spence Personally ASKED for Tougher Opposition...Either Russell HASN'T Asked for Tougher Opponents OR, Haymon's Not Confident in him Stepping it Up, as You've Stated...They WON'T Babysit him Much Loooooooooooooonger Though, if that IS the Case...

Well I'm pretty sure if we are talking about featherweight, Donaire holds no belt there and would probably beat Lomachenko rather easily at this point.
