who here thinks there is truth to the "German gloves" (that some fighters there put poisen on the gloves) <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> this has been pretty well Substantiated from various fighters, managers, etc... I think something should be DONE!! maybe NO more boxing matches in Germany?
Unless the comission does something about it, then there will still be fights in Germany. It's not easy to get away with it though, since the commission inspects the gloves after the fight....well, they're supposed to.
seems silly that they'd inspect them "after" the fight and not before, doesn't it. whatever substance they may or may not put on them would likely dissipate by the time 12 rounds have passed, no? i think gloves and tape should be put on fighters after they've entered the ring, by the commision. doesn't seem fair that one fighter has his hands taped by Emmanuel Steward, for example, while the other gets his taped by Honest Joe.
They are inspected before. While a fighter is getting his hands wrapped, an inspector is observing alongside the opposing trainer. After the hands are wrapped, the inspector puts his initials on the wraps. Then, as the fighter gloves up, the inspector observes and then puts his initials on the tape around the glove. When it comes to wrapping hands, there's only one way to do it really. Sometimes there are slight variations, but if you can't wrap, you shouldn't train.
i hear you. but it doesn't jive with the comments you hear from fighters. like PBF, for example, always talks about how his hand problems went away when this guy or that guy taped his hands. and Hearns always said Steward's taping helped him. the differences might be subtle, and even if they're not, the inspectors aren't necessarily educated in the art of hand-wrapping - for example, maybe all they're looking for is that foreign instruments aren't inserted. and take Tito. in his heyday you really think his hands were wrapped like everyone else's? whether you think it was legal or not, there's no doubt he used a lot more tape than most. so i think hand-wraps have and continue to make a difference in fights. and in the spirit of fair competition, it'd be good if this wasn't the case.
there is nothing wrong with their gloves. It's just the American excuse for getting their asses kicked by "euro trash".
1.The most recent- Titogate. 2. Panama Al Lewis and the Billy Collins Affair. 3. Clay-Liston. 4. Marciano vs Walcott. 5. The alleged infractions by Jack Dempsey vs Willard. 6. The KNOWN use of plaster of paris by Fitzsimmons vs JJ Jeffries, In response to this, you have...uhhh....Chris Byrd vs Wlad Klitschko.???:dunno: And the Jew ramblings of Max Kellerman?? FUCK OFF.
Oh,..well she's 6:22am,..and I glazed over it thinking it was one of them ambiguous doozey's your prone to plant every now and then, and thats to harsh to figure out at this time, especially with a fucken concurrent squealing rooster out the window.
Of course, there was the infamous Claygate, where Clay won a fight by TAMPERING with his OWN gloves. Or had Dundee do it for him, seeing as Clay was in la la land from the left hook of a 187lb man. Wow...so whats the count now? 9-2 against the Yanks?? What was the reason for Byrds face swelling up in the rematch?
if they inspect before maybe they quietly dip them in the poisen in between rounds? I know Bobby JIZZ said that Holy had poisen on his gloves but I think he just got jacked up by Holy.. no poisen needed Byrd, Mercer and quite a few others though have been subjected to the poisen in Germany.. Foreman mentioned it as well. it almost seems like it's known there that they poisen the gloves..
When did Foreman and Mercer fight in Germany? Mercer was an Amateur in Germany.....but when did he get robbed with poisoned gloves??
Didn't Foreman fight Axl Shultz in germany? I don't remember where Mercer fought Wlad but it might have been in germany, that's what LOK thinks...
Cant remember about the Foreman one.. or Mercer but I think Mercer was saying how as far back as the ammys he knew about the poisen
I agree that it has always been an issue that people seem to overlook. Ottke used to love that poison. He loaded his gloves up something fierce against Joe Gatti, but there has always been a conspiracy to keep it hush.
Yeah, he needed it, cos Joe Gatti comes from a long line of people who are hard to knockdown or cut. Joe Gatti didn't open his fucking mouth until he got to the Hospital. Then he starts all this shit about the gloves being loaded. Fuck Joe Gatti.
