Bernard is by far the biggest cheating faggot as of late. I'd if you took the sneaky headbutts out of each of their arsenals, Holyfield in his prime could still be a great fighter. Hopkins would still be a cheating clincher without a headbutt.

seriously. there's something real pussy about the way Hopkins cheats. the way he blatantly hits his opponents on the hips. and holds and hits constantly. he's far worse than holyfield. holyfield was never a wrestling bitch the way hopkins is either. if his opponent wants to dish it out, holyfield deals with it in kind, not by grabbing on like a bitch.

I honestly don't see what's so great about Hopkins.

He's a great middleweight in a not-so-great era of middleweights.

Would you favor Hopkins over Hagler, Hearns, Monzon, Robinson, hell even Lamotta?

The guy throws 35-40 punches a round, headbutts, clinches, and wins in stinky, dirty ways.

Hopkins is one of the most overrated fighters of recent memory. Maybe we can really have some fun and start discussing Jerbum Taylor's place on the all-time list, Hopkins TWICE conqueror.

Monzon no. Hagler maybe. Robinson probably(far lesser fighters than Hopkins beat Robby at 160). Hearns yes, Lamotta HELL YES!

Lamotta was there to be hit, but he was bigger than Hopkins. Overall picking Hopkins over Jake isn't a bad pick.

But if Hearns boxed and used his footwork, I don't see how Hopkins even touches Hearns.

The B-Hop hate is strong these days, isn't it? The clinching started late in his career. Don't label him as someone who did it for a majority of his career. He also wasn't a flagarent headbutter. His fouls were mostly holding and hitting and fouling outside the line of sight of the referee.

His fouls are what actually first attracted me to him as a fighter. I thought it was amazing how he used it to get in his opponent's head throughout the entire fight.

The winky and taylor headbutts were both accidental.

In regards to the question, Holyfield was by far the bigger headbutter. Look at the Larry Donald fight. When it became obvious that he had no chance, he charged in with his head like a football player leading with his helmet. The second half of the fight I must have cringed 30 times. Even the crowd cringed as he led with his head.

    It was rather disgusting.

hearns wasn't that elusive, especially against guys who were as tall as him.

His low workrate is really only recently as he's gotten older, it's started with the 3rd Allen fight. He has to pick his spots more and throw less, and most of his fights since 2004 have been stinky.

Hopkins-Hagler is a pick-em. Hopkins would probably be the underdog against Monzon. I can definitely see Hopkins winning the first fight over Robinson (especially the older one) and Robinson getting revenge in the rematch. I'm guessing the best MW version of Robinson was a little before and going up to the 6th Lamotta fight.

Hearns can give Hopkins trouble with his range and outside game, I can see Hopkins winning a very ugly fight on the inside with a lot of wrestling, clinching, and sneaky fouls by B-Hop.

About head butting, Joel Casamayor should be thrown into any debate. That straight/overhand left followed by a butt to a jaw is a killer. He knocked down Corrales with a beautiful head to the jaw.

Like the time Lennox Lewis wore his protector up to his neck against Holyfield? Or when hit countless guys by holding their necks and then launching the uppercut? Or when the ref let him hit Acey three times when he was down?

Tyson lost because of the ring.

some of these claims are ridiculous.

so by you goons' standards, hopkins at age 42, should take more risks and fight the fight?

the guy knows how to win. give him his credit.

at least he doesnt throw punches behind the head (except for that one time against Echols) or hit after the bell.

i dont recall him throwing any elbows either. he holds and hits on the thigh. he lands low if he has to, but it's not like he's Tito or Cotto.

his holding and hitting, and the consistency with which he does it, is far worse than anything Tito or Cotto have ever done.

aside from his fights against keith holmes and winky (two southpaws by the way), list some other fights where hopkins fought dirty.

only consistent roughhouse tactic i've seen is hitting on the hip during a clinch.

That's exactly my point. If you took the FOULS out of the equation, Hopkins gets schooled by everyone on that All-Time list. Hopkins entire game for the past 7 years is about being a dirty fucking faggot.

Are you defending Hopkins by saying he doesn't actually have to "fight" but should be commended by cheating his way to victory?

That's the best "Joonism" of all-time.

he got away with it and won. how foolish would it have been for hopkins to stand there and eat jabs all night?

a young hopkins would've beaten hearns with or without holding. he would've landed enough right hands to knock hearns out late.

    Another all-time "Joonism."

    Joony's opinions on other subjects:

On presidential campaign funding from questionable organizations: "He got away with it and won!"

On athlete steroid use: "He got away with it and won!"

On OJ Simpson: "He got away with it and won!"

Hopkins hit Syd Vanderpool with about a dozen straight short little low blows/borderline low blows during a clinch. He hit Robert Allen with several low blows during the rematch. Although Allen may have exaggerated, he did get hit with low blows. Hopkins-Trinidad was considered a clean fight, even when Hopkins hit Tito after the bell following rounds 5 and 10, held and hit late in round 6, to which Tito responded with his own elbow in B-Hop's neck. Hopkins repeatedly came forward with his head against Joppy and hit him low, and Joppy retaliated.
