holy shit, just checked on boxrec since it's nowhere else in the news. golden boy curse indeed. Seems like GBP will have to look for a new set of unbeaten prospects, or just keep recycling their old stars.

A single lefthook. Linares must be a graduate of the Khan school of chins.

Damn! That is a surprise. Linares was one of the prospects I thought was legit, like Victor Ortiz, oops

salaco - indeed it does happen, but um, it generally only happens to people with pretty shit chins

Maybe he does, although there's a long list of guys known for having solid beards who've been taken out early doors like jl castillo, Larios, kalambay, arguably vernon forrest, and that jap fighter who fought this week Daisuke Naito

wow, really shocked with that result, in saying that Linares has disappointed since he defeated Larios.

just saw the fight, weird punch that caught him. Was more of a set up hook for the right hand. Think it landed in his left ear, and threw his balance out of the window. It's not like he fought bad or anything. A rematch and the same thing won't happen.

maybe he shouldve been more concerned with protecting himself and trying to recover instead of fixing his trunks after being dropped

    agREED...

Linares Appeared to have his Right Glove Up, so the Punch Landed HIGH on the Right Side of his Head...Fucked Up his Equilibrium BIGTIME...NATHAN Of Consequence Happened Prior to the Knockdown...

REED Feels that there's SOME Merit to a 1st Round KO, but this is 1 that COULD B Reversed in a RE...

Yeah? When has he showed any kind of vulnerability before?

His defense has been suspect, but I've seen nobody suggest that he was chinny. He got rocked around in sparring for this one apparently and the writing was on the wall.

He was rocked pretty well by Gamaliel Diaz early as well which isn't to good.

Haven't seen the KO, but everything I've heard said it was a temple shot or ear shot which doesn't always equate to being chinny. That could happen to anyone. Look how Forrest was KO'd by a temple shot from Mayorga but as far as I can remember never once hit the canvas again.

Meh. He was hit ALOT by Diaz and I didn't think he was in any serious danger in that fight, even though he showed a terrible defense.

Linares apparently eked out a MD against Francisco Lorenzo this weekend...not exactly a successful return...this is a mijares-like freefall

    Damn, that is surprising.

I'm usually a pretty good judge of fighters, but I was wrong about Ortiz and Linares. Although I wasn't as high on Linares as some, and I actually think Ortiz is a lot better, I thought they were both the "goods" to some extent.

    Prescott :p

Even overlooking that brutal KO loss against a scrub, we'll see about Khan.

I think his natural talent carries him a certain way at world level, but he won't be an elite fighter.

He'll be found wanting at the highest level, he'll either be outsmarted or KTFO.

Fuck, I'd pick Maidana to beat him, if Khan nutted up and fought him. And no, not based on Saturday's fight, I haven't even seen it, but I know that Maidana is a puncher, and is very determined, and Khan wants nothing to do with him.
