Who gives a fuck about the amateurs? If we go by that, then Mark Breland is greater than Tommy Hearns. All that matters is the pros.
its not the professional boxing hall of fame. its the international boxing hall of fame and amateurs matter when discussing induction there. so theres that laszlo papp is enshrined.
If I just did pro, Usyk would mop the floor with Loma. That's why I included amateur career. Loma would never be a greater pro than Usyk, i think, in my mind. Just look at what happened when they faced their best opponent. Usyk, down on the cards against a super HW champion in Fury decided to sell out and win. Loma's best opponent he lost to, because he wasn't willing to sell out to win against a guy who was out-boxed by Kambozo
Usyk clearly. Beat all the best opponents available for him and did it in opponents hometown. Had Loma managed to beat Teo and Haney he would have a good argument but he came up short. Now if Loma nabs wins over Tank and Shakur as well as being undisputed then he might come close to Usyk’s accomplishments.
I think if Usyk stops soon over time he will be considered better and better. I know alot of hard-core fans prefer the lighter weights, but a guy 6'2 200 lbs beating breidis, gassiev, and bellew at cruiser....then going to heavy handling a few journeymen, then the consensus two best heavyweights (who seemed like they had style advantages over him to boot) is gonna go down as alot better than it seems now. Throw in that olympic gold, and we are flirting with all timer status. I know the resume is thin, but the skills are undeniable. Not just that but he has beaten nearly everyone in their own backyard. Loma IMO isn't even in the same bracket.
Loma has less substance than Usyk, but that's always been obvious IMO. Usyk has far and away done more in his pro career.
