    Obviously inspired by x thread.

Manchester seems like a strong candidate, if only for fury and hatton (and they had a few other titlist if im not mistaken)

not the best, but Montreal deserves a mention. Numerous titlist (stiverne, hilton, lucas, lemieux. Alcine) and 2 guys that were arguably in the top 10 p4p at some point in their career (Pascal and Stevenson).

Oakland deserves mention considering they produced Ward and Haney. Two insufferable cunts, but accomplished cunts, so the city deserves mention.

Isn't Detroit considered one of the best? Or is more the state of Michigan?

Louis and Hearns are by far the two greatest fighters from Detroit.

Robinson lived in Detroit in his childhood, but he moved to NYC when he was 12 and that's when he started his amateur career, thus technically he's an NYC fighter.

James Toney is from Michigan. And of course, Michigan is the home state of the wife beating, stripper loving, king of fleecing PPV dollars.

Historically, it's a great city, but I don't recall a lot of good fighters from there in the 21st century

If I'm not mistaken, but Toney and the aforementionned wife beating, stripper loving King of fleecing PPV dollars comes froms Grand Rapids. That's quite an accomplishment for such a small city

Don't you have to be married to be classified a wife beater?

The DC, Maryland, Virginia area, which is commonly known as the "DMV" has certainly produced its share of greats: Leonard, Whitaker, and Neil's favorite flyweight.

Weirdly enough, Boxrec claims he was born in Grand Rapids, and per Wiki, he lived near PBF family. But yeah, he was definitively at least raised in Ann Arbor. If I'm not mistaken, Barkley was making fun of him for that. Probably wasn't a wise move since he caught a terrible beating in that fight.

Philly is definitely a strong contender in 21st century, just off the strength of Hopkins and Danny Garcia. And now Boots.

Terry Flanagan, of Manchester, was a world champion at 135. I think WBO and lost it to Maurice Hooker if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, he lost it to Hooker. Then Flanagan lost 12-0 to Regis.

    In Mexico:

Tijuana always seems to have some good fighters. (Erik and Diego Morales and Margarito who is US born but raised in Tijuana.)

Los Mochis seems to produce a lot of top boxers as well for it's size.

Mexico City: Marco Antonio Barrera, Rafael Marquez, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Navarette.

If you add the Greater Manchester area to Manchester you could include Khan.

Sheffield had Hamed, Brook and (lol) Johnny Nelson.

I'm surprised Birmingham hasn't produced many great fighters, second biggest city in the UK and a rather depressing place. Seems like the perfect breeding ground, but they tend to just churn out tough journeyman types. I remember they had Nobby Nobbs' 'Losers Unlimited' stable there back in the day.

Nonito Donaire also lived in San Leandro after he immigrated and started boxing. San Leandro directly borders Oakland. Ward is from Hayward, which directly borders San Leandro, but trained at King’s Gym in Oakland.

All 3 cities are part of Alameda County

Yep, he is indeed. Was the first star from the Wincobank gym under Brendan Ingle.
