If anyone's never seen Benn-Barkley before, or forgot about it, heres the deal. First off, it has to be one of the most exciting round 1's in history, right up there with Hagler-Hearns. Benn knocked Iran down 3 times thus ending the fight based on the 3 KD rule(which is the dumbest rule in the history of the sport). Nevermind the fact that the dirty Brit blatantly hit Barkley while he was down everytime, Barkley coulda continued and he had Benn wobbled in the 1st round also. Had the fight gone, who woulda gotten KO'd?
Should have been disqualified, my guess the ref would have let Eubank touch hands and come in for the tag team on Barkley and the ref would have done nothing. Barkley had no chance of winning against the ref.....
That day,....Nigel Benn was on a mission. He was Tyson-like in his approach and savagery. I remember being stunned that he was able to do the usually very sturdy Barkley like that. i think that Benn would have won even if the fight had gone on.
There was only one winner no matter how long the fight went on, and that was The Dark Destroyer by K.O. I agree with Explosivo that Benn was like an early Tyson that night, he had nothing on his mind except getting Barclay outta there.
agreed Benn the homotalking bum was very desperate to end it and avoid getting whooped later on ________ MOTORCYCLE TIRES
