Saturday on DAZN. Haney had better stop washed up, fragile Linares. If he boxes to an underwhelming 12 round decision then he might as well quit calling out Lopez.
I'm gonna give the kid the benefit of the doubt and say he's gonna stop Linares. If this is a replay of the Gamboa fight, then the kid needs to STFU about Lopez ducking him. Because Lopez would surely put the current Linares in a pine box.
I like Haney because he has some SRL-esque mannerisms about his style - kind of older school - doesn't have the RJJ spaz about him. But he does seem to lack pop.
In my opinion, Haney has certain similarities, but definitely superficial ones. Nonetheleas, they make his style pleasing.
Haney is stuck between styles IMO. I've seen him trying to incorporate a combination of Floyd, Leonard, and Roy, with the problem being he's not a FRACTION as talented as them. At least Fimo is his own fighter. I mean, you def see some Roy influence in Fimo's style, but he's his own man, whereas Haney tries hard to be a Floyd ripoff.
I'm trying to believe in Haney. I'm gonna say he'll stop Linares. If this is dull, and his punches don't affect Linares, then I'm completely counting out his chances against Fimo.
Devin Haney: I Don't Feel Like I Need To Stop Linares; If The Stoppage Comes, It Comes "I don't feel I need to stop Linares." Translation: "Fans, bring your pillows and blankets."
Meh. How many times have we heard fighters say "I GUARANTEE a knockout!" and not fight any more aggressively than they normally do.
Yeah, but Haney is truly convinced that he's Floyd - that he can put on a dull performance and people will still pay to see him. He's gotta understand that needs to start putting hurt on guys for fans to give a shit. That's why he's the least appealing of the young fighters. Well, him and Shakur. Fimo, Benavidez, Ennis, and Ortiz are all in there to take guys out.
Yeah agreed on all, just saying whatever a fighter proclaims before a fight means little to nothing. If it happens to turn out it's "I told you so!". If not? "Well, i had to promote the fight, you see i had to be smart in there , i listened to my corner, i had a game plan ..." Whatever.
I think it'll be reasonably competitive, given what Linares has left. Jorge could potentially give Haney issues with his speed and skillset, but I expect he'll be timed around the halfway point and start to falter. Haney should be able to stink his way to clear decision, like he did vs Gamboa. We're hardly gonna see a Hagler-Hearns tribute, put it that way.
Good. Glad it was stopped early. Start stopping every women's fight early. Less time they take up the screen.
Little known fact. In women's boxing, a body shot that lands below the belt is called an "uppercunt."
