Between rounds 4 and 5, the ring doctor examines Wepner, who is suffering from severe facial lacerations. "Just let me have one more round," Wepner begs. "Then you can stop the fight." The referee lowers his head, and allows the bludgeoning to continue. Halfway through the break period, Harrison is on his feet, jogging like Muhammad Ali. Wepner is completely blinded by swelling and blood, and Harrison races across the ring like an assassin to finish the fight, but he slips in the blood, twists his ankle and quits.
