Three of the four Cruiserweight World Title belts (WBA, WBC, WBO) are on the line at the O2 Arena on Saturday 8th March as Enzo Maccarinelli (28-1-0, 21 KO's) takes on David 'Hayemaker' Haye (20-1-0, 19 KO's) in a HUGE British domestic fight and one that promises to be an explosive contest between two guys who many believe are somewhat fragile around the whiskers but contain explosive KO power.

    Who's got who?

I think Haye will win because he's been in there with better opposition, but Macarinelli will put up a hell of a fight and we will all be looking forward to a rematch.

    Haye TKO8

For me, the key here is who lands first...

Mac is undoubtedly a BIG puncher, but his oppo has been largely awful to date (save a shopworn Braithwaite who he dominated) and I can't help shake the feeling that he has been KO-ing tomato cans in typical Frank Werren style.

IMO he is slower and less skilled generally than Haye, who has better hand and foot speed and well as at least an equal level of power. For all that Bonin is GARBAGE, he is a HW and Haye KHTFO in a round. There can be no doubt that Haye has dynamite is both hands and the potential to KO Mac if this turns into a slug fest. For all that the detractors might whine, going to Paris and getting off the canvas to KO Mormeck was very impressive. Declining or not, most thought Mormeck would be too good for David.

There are plenty of intangibles. Mac MIGHT be better than he appears. Some of Werren's protected lot are. Look at how much better Calzaghe has shown himself to be when he stepped up in class. But I just can't quite see that in Enzo, even though he has clearly improved a lot since the days when Swaby was KO-ing him. The shift to Enzo Calzaghe's gym has also seen a great improvement in his movement and especially his defense and overall technique.

For all of that, Haye should be too quick and classy, which means he should land first. And if he lands first, he should win. Which is why I'm picking him. But it would be no great shock to me to see Enzo ICE him if he catches the money shot.

That's what makes it such an exciting match-up. Both are power punchers who can't take a punch. But I'm going with Haye.

    Haye KO 9

I haven't seen a cruiserweight fight since the first Mormeck/Bell unification fight. It was a damn good scrap. But I just really can't get familiar with the cruiserweights. :dunno:

"He can say what he likes but he's delusional. I'll punch a hole in his head," Maccarinelli, told BBC Sport.

I keep going back and forward on this one....I'm going with Haye though. I can certainly envision Enzo winning but my first reflex was to pick Haye, and that's usually right.

The later this fight goes the more trouble Haye is in. His stamina sucks.

REED Hasn't Seen Either Guy Fight so he Can't Form an EDUCATED Opinion...

But Since Haye KO'ed Mormeck, who KO'ed Braithwaite, who REED was VERY High on 1nce Upon a Time, he's HOPING Haye Wins:lol: ...

More than Anything, what the Crusierweight Division Needs is a DOMINANT Champ...Braithwaite APPEARED to B that Guy til he Met Mormeck...Mormeck Appeared to B that Guy til Bell & Now Haye...

The Division Itself is TALENTED, but they Need a DOMINANT, Loooooong TENURED Guy @ the Top...

Hopefully the Winner of this Bout can BECOME that...

Mormeck didn't KO Braithwaite. He did beat his as over 12 rounds pretty roughly though.

Haye with an early KO here though. Enzo is average as all hell and if he beats Haye, he continues to make a mockery of what the cruiserweights have become.

All the Crusierweight division needs is for the Networks to show the fights.

No biggie. He may as well have, because he beat Wayne's head in real bad and basically ended him as a top flight fighter.

REED, I was also under the impression Mormeck stopped him and I've seen the fight. It must have been a pretty raw beating

this might be a poor fight.

caution will be used by both men and it might not turn into the slugfest that many are hoping for.

There is always a danger of over-hyping these sort of fights.....'the first one who lands'....and then no one really ends up landing their big shot at all

Haye is as confident as anyone, and if anything he is more reserved in some of his interviews.....he really believes this fight will be over very quick, like the Gurov fight. He won't go in gung-ho, but he'll be looking for half an opportunity to land that right hand.....he's got to be wary though, arguably, Enzo's best shot is his instinctive counter left hook.

Enzo is the one who may adjust his tactics....as well as his chin, the other of Haye perceived weaknesses is his stamina.....i think Enzo will go in with the game plan - at least - of starting cautious and look to come on strong late and let his superior conditioning and latter round experience be the difference. If Haye (and along with it the occaision) gets to him early, then that plan could go out the window.

I am as excited about this fight as any over here since Calzaghe-Lacy....and i'll be there to see it too!

    Yup

Haye was about to move up until a shot at mainstream UK fame called him out. If he wins, he is gone...

Ditto- this is a MASSIVE fight here- even the casual boxing fan is talking about it in the pubs and clubs.

Should be a GREAT night for boxing in the UK, either way...
